Hi.

I am currently a junior at high school

I have 10 pound dumbbells in my house and i've been working out (not intensively though).

Sometimes I would lift them and my muscles would be sore the next morning.

Is it better to exercise moderately regularly or to have a huge workout? If I weigh 130 pounds, how much protein / anything else should I eat to get muscle growth?

Thanks

To add on, you're 130 pounds. That means 130 x 1.5g of protein; 195g of protein everyday.

10 pound dumbbells are not going to cut it. Honest advice: invest the money in a gym membership. There are some good deals out there. I negotiated my 24 hour fitness membership down to $30 per month and got the initiation fees waived (usually $50/month + some initiation fee). To tie you over until then, pushups, burpees, pullups, and lots of food. It is possible to get in shape doing entirely calisthenics, like what the military does, but if you are trying to gain mass which I am assuming you are, you will get results much faster with weight training.

What exercises work best to build up biceps triceps and pecs if I only have dumbells?

I'd do chin-ups and dips for bis and tris. They helped me tremendously in high school, and remain my strongest body parts. And you don't need weights. Do negatives if you can't get 10 reps each set.

To really get buff, you'll see some form of weights. Do military presses, 3 sets of 10 reps, 3 times a week to add some width and development to your shoulders. You have to find some weight.

Do as many pushups and crunches as you can, 3 times a week, also.

Your "bis" and "tris" are your strongest body parts? Unless you're confined to a wheelchair, your strongest body parts should be your legs and back.

Bad wording.

I've had the most success developing bis and pulling strength with chinups and tris and pushing with dips.

They are my "strongest" as in my most successful, quickest progress.

I know that you pretty much stop growing after college.

Is it possible to get buff during college if I work out hard?

You are very clueless. Educate yourself a little first. Put some time into it. Read the vault (top of last page), search the interwebs there is loads of info on exercises and diet.

Ok. Please stop. You're embarrassing yourself.

1. 10lbs is nothing. You want to know why big guys are big? Because they lift heavy stuff. All the time. In the gym.

2. You don't 'stop growing after college'. Your body does not have a pre-college, during college, or post-college state.

Educate yourself.

How old are you?
