Okay, my school's homecoming dance is next saturday. I really want to go, but i don't have a date..... I really want to ask this one girl, but I don't know how. I want to go w/ her as friends. I have a confidence problem in this area. It's not something i can fake like public speaking. I'm a good public speaker, but i can never seem to ask a girl out. rejection is probably my biggest fear, and I don't know what to do about it. I realllly, as I said, want to go to homecoming, but I'm not going if i don't have a date. Only one of my friends is going, and he has a date. Advice from those of you that have experience on this situation will be appreciated.

Dude 243 posts and i get the impression you haven't even looked at the bible?

Read it.

Confidence isn't something that anyone can give you. They may be able to boost it for a little while, but its a sham. You have to find it deep within yourself and bring it to the surface.

What is going to happen if you get rejected? Is she gonna yell in a crowded room "I don't want to go homecoming with you Jokerlsk!!! GET AWAY FROM ME!!!"

No she will probably put you down nicely. She may tell her close friends, but it will be a good thing. I have never felt any disrespect to any of my friends who got rejected by a girl it made me respect them more. In fact the more unconfident the person and the hotter the girl that they go after has made me say to myself on several occasions, "wow this guy has balls."

I have even thought this about a AFC move. My friend asked a girl out by giving her a bear-from build a bear and telling her he thought she was the most gorgeous girl in the world. it was a dumb move, but the courage that needed to be mustered for him to do something like that was a lot so i respect him for it. He just doesn't know how to play the game

Ask her now. She may be getting a date as you read this very post. Move it, relax, dont think about it and i am sure it will all work out.

Don't get over-zealous though. Its great to be gung-ho and good-to-go, but try not to think TOO much.

Oh, I'm not. I'm going to talk to her before class starts, bring up homecoming, and ask if she wants to go w/ me. Sound like a plan?
