I almost stayed home but decided to hang out with my buddies at my friend's pad. Nothing big, just the three of us but we drank and laughed. It's something. Sometimes you need to appreciate what you have... if that's family, then great. That's more than a lot of guys have.

This year I made it a point to actually enjoy my family during the holidays. Yeah, I wish this year I had a girl or whatever, was doing more exciting things... but my family cares about me and I value them more as I get older. As men we have to focus on our strengths and appreciate what we have...no matter how small it will seem. We have to build on something.

And you do that by seeing what you take for granted as a blessing. Then you're less needy in life. Which makes you more attractive. Which opens the floodgates. All a state of mind.

lol ken, just read that other thread. It sounds like your whole family is kinda f*cked up.

I stand by my advice that New Year's parties are meaningless. New Year's is an excuse to have fun, not a mandate. The only mandate is to reflect on the past twelve months, commemorate the start of a new year, and maybe make plans on how to improve things over the next year.

That being said, it sounds like your incident with your idiot family members (who you should've beaten the crap out of) was over 3 months ago. You oughta start getting some friends by now. If you don't have any, it probably means you're not getting out and socializing enough. Find some ppl at your school to hang out with

I was supposed to go to a huge house party that was a four hour drive from where I lived. Half way there my front tire blew, which sent me into probably one of the scariest spin-outs in my entire life, right into the opposing traffic lane. I am all right but my car isnt, and I barely managed to make it back home.

So yeah, I spent New Years Eve alone as well, but to hell with the partying and getting drunk. I am just happy to be alive!

On a similar note, I find New Years Eve to be much overrated as well. I used to be in a panic whenever I did not have plans for that night, until I realized that there are 364 other days in which you can celebrate, so why let one night dictate to you wether or not you feel like a loser?

Yeah plus these traditions we have. Ok it's been a year. Tomorrow is a NEW YEAR! Well, it's another day, just like yesterday. Celebrate every damn day.

This is also something I think about when it comes to the weekends... people live for the weekend and the rest of the week they hate. Why should any day be any worse than the one before it?

if you're not going out on New Years Eve because you don't have any friends, that's one thing.

if you're not going out on New Years Eve because it's just another day for you, it's not worth the hassle with the crowds, the cops, the checkpoints, the bs, and really couldn't give a flying flip, that's another thing.

for me...i really don't care about New Years Eve anymore. been there, done that. besides Times Square, i live exactly one block north of the biggest New Year's Eve party in America--the Pasadena Rose Parade route, Old Town scene all nighter--over 1 million people.

but it's quiet time for me. while everyone else is partying their azzes off, i am officially checking off what i did for 2007 and pat myself on the back sipping excellent champagne by my lonesome, going over the misc items i need to tie up, and...

officially figuring out what i need to do to make 2008 just 10% better than 2007. not shallow goals or superficial resolutions, like all the other suckers out there...but verifiable RESULTS.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
