Whatever the surprise you have planned is, try doing it with texts for "clues" or an email with different "clues" she'll have to figure out a week beforehand. Maybe offer her tips to help with the clues to keep a lighthearted convo going every so often during the week before the surprise. This could also reduce the chance of flaking as it may peak the girls curiosity a bit.

Thats what ive been trying to do. I have to work on that a big though.
