I have high cheekbones and strong jaw line (diamond/square face shape). This can’t be seen as much as when I’m clean shaven, obviously.

Right now I have a full beard. Been growing it since December. Haven’t trimmed at all. It’s quite big and makes my face seem rounder; less shaped. The beard is not shaped at all, just general combing.

Question is simple; for the men here who have grown their beards, has anyone noticed a difference in their dating encounters when having a full beard compared to been 5’oclock shawdow or clean shaven?
I’ve noticed attraction from women dip lower since growing it, I think.

Chick perspective: Clean shaven or 5'O clock shadow or trimmed stubble (whether goat tee or full beard stubble) is FAR more attractive and shows off a man's face much better. I personally don't like a full beard. Too furry for kissing among other things.

Grooming is a big thing. There are women who dig a full beard, but they are in the minority. So it will limit your dating choices doing something you have complete control over.

I see plenty of bumble/tinder girls state they are attracted to beards. It seems to be the "trendy" thing now, about like Ed Hardy/Affliction was! I just hope skinny jeans never go out of style, they hug my stuff so nicely.

My question is how can you really kiss or have oral sex with a beard?

Beards are okay as long as they are done right. Google head shapes, then find your head shape. Then google facial hair for xxxxx head shape.

Cant remember the exact search, but there are tons of photos out there to help you. Find your head shape first, then find the best beard/facial hair. I have a big dome, high cheeks and a narrow jaw, so the goal was to widen my jaw. So I go have the full 3mm facial stubble, 1mm mustache cause its thicker, with a clean neck and cheeks. I wasnt sure on what was recommended for me, but I tried it and haven't looked back since.

Personally, full beards are pretty nasty looking and I am sure most people think the same. They also give the perception of not caring. It's like a "dad bod"; it's a cute conversation piece, but certainly won't attract women

Scientifically speaking, the shadow is the most attractive, followed by the beard, followed by clean shaven. It comes down to individual women though. I have had a beard for years because I look quite young without facial hair so my SMV goes up. I would definitely trim it so that it follows and emphasizes the lines on your face. An unkempt beard is like unkempt hair.

I grew a full beard and I noticed a drastic improvement in my attractiveness and responses from women. Was it a confidence boost in feeling more manly? Maybe. I do know I look way too childish without it so. These days I keep it mid length and closer to the face, but still past shadow. Just experiment to find a style that suits.

My question is how can you really kiss or have oral sex with a beard?
Flavor saver.

I've had a short beard (10mm) since I was about 30 and I keep it well maintained/oiled to keep it soft and I'm getting better looking girls now than I ever have.

I think it all depends on the person.I have a full beard but I used to be clean shaven. When I grew it out several years ago I noticed women more attracted to me on OLD and in public at least it seemed that way..my gf loves my beard.

Most of the women I date compliment mine. A few "refused" to let me cut it. For chits and giggles, I have used it as a bargaining chip to get women to groom their bush a certain way even. To accentuate your jaw line and facial features, first outline your upper cheek and lower neck with a razor. Sometimes, I'll use bare clippers if I haven't shaven in a week, then razor. Next, use your guard to trim your longest length of your beard. If you prefer longer than 1" skip this step. Most kits only go to 1", that I've seen anyways. Next work your way down, from largest to smallest guards, until it starts fading in. Using the largest, start at the top of yours side burns, going in a downward motion, towards your jawline and flipping it away from your face in a J motion as you reach the bottom of your jawline. Then, reduce your guard to the next size down and with the same technique, start from the top of your burns and go down to the bottom of your ear. I usually use 3 lengths to fade, from about 3/4"longest length, up to a shaved head and razor tight cheek and lower neck. Jawline, bottom of ear and mid ear are my J flicking points. Oils, balms and waxes are good to polish it off with too. Oils have little, to no hold and just moisturize. Waxes are mostly for shaping, with little moisturize and balms are right in the middle.

I have a variation of the Van Dyke beard... not thick à la Johnny Depp... Works for me.

I can't grow a full face beard yet, it prefers to cling to my jawline, but I've found that it changes the kinds of girls that will go for you.

If I'm rocking stubble/light beard, it seems to appeal more to "edgy" girls - the "bad girl" types and the types that dye their hair etc.

If I'm clean shaven I seem to appeal more to the "normals".

It totally depends on the woman. I had a girl quit dating me because her "type" was clean-shaven baby-faced gym bunny. I have the baby face, but also have a short beard (~1/4" length). But I've been told by a lot of people who knew me before I grew the beard that it looks really good on me. I grew it right when I got divorced (you know, instead of getting a tattoo or Ferrari) so all my dating experience has been bearded so I can't compare before vs after. A beard will make you look a bit older, so you have to consider that too. I grew mine because I actually wanted to look older.

full beards on men with strong jawline/cheek bones is retarded

It's like a woman with huge boobs wearing giant oversized sweaters. Why not show off one of your best assets?

Good responses; thanks for the input!

I should probably shave off my beard and go with my 6 days growth again. Full beard doesn’t do much for attraction purposes.

Like @BeExcellent ssid; it only attracts a very small percentage. And I’ve noticed a huge dip in the glances department because of it.

I’ve read a couple of the studies which @ohrein mentioned. Most women seeking long term partners are attracted to the full-on bigger beards. And the women looking my way are generally heavier and of average looks. Whereas before I was getting all types.

It’s been an interesting experiment. Starting growing it after I got back from backpacking SE Asia.

go all the way clean shaven dude

even 6 day growth hides your cheek bones/jawline

Beards are for men with naturally weak facial features who look super young. I can grow a phenomenal beard but I look older with a heavily masculine facial structure clean shaven (sounds like you do too) so I go clean shaven. A clean face shows off strong cheekbones/jawline/chin plus it acts like a mild exfoliate so you have smooth glowing skin all the time

True.

However, I think most women like to see men with a bit of facial hair. And even in celebs where they do conparison photos they generally look better with a bit of facial hair, as opposed to clean shaven. Looks more masculine and adds more contrast to the face

Yeah, I've heard that clean shaven was actually the least attractive facial hair option for men.
I've tried various looks, but my facial hair is like steel wool so when I tried the "shadow" look or kept it at all short it would jab the girls when kissing.
Besides, since it comes in gray now, I feel like it ages me, so it's clean shaven for me now. Oh well.

That is true, anything between 1 day to 4 day growth is like sandpaper against a woman’s face. Then you stop kissing them and their face is all red haha

The land of improvement
Perhaps I'm the 0.5 % of worlds population to have a mustache in my age .

I don't have a beard but my mustache is fantastic. I always get compliments from everybody.

As for the ladies ...they love it . Since i have my mustache , women approach me themselves and the most common question is about my mustache .It Is a great opener for a chick who's attracted to me .

First of all its unique. I go outside and everyone has either full beard or its completely shaved. All guys with a beard look the same . Only if you ugly grow a beard .

Secondly i don't think there is anything else more manly than a mustache, even more when you're a muscular guy.

If you're attractive, better stay shaved and if you want to look more manly but still be unique , let a mustache to grow. I don't say having 5 hair over your lips is a mustache . You know what i mean .
