I was reading this, and I got disturbed:

http://dailycaller.com/2018/08/02/france-outlaws-catcalling/

French lawmakers voted late Wednesday to outlaw sexual harassment on the streets, passing a bill that would hit catcallers with heavy fines for making unwanted advances in public.

“Harassment in the street has previously not been punished,” Marlene Schiappa, France’s gender equality minister and backer of the new law, told Europe 1 radio on Thursday. “From now on, it will be.”
First they came for the catcallers, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a catcaller ...

I mean has anyone who ever catcalled a woman ended up banging her? I dont think a dude who is actually trying to get with a chick is going to do this...they will walk up to them like a man and initiate a conversation not call at them from across the street.

IMHO, catcalling is a form of "talk is cheap" insecurity. Kinda like a little poodle barking at the pitbull from the safety of its screened in porch all the way down the street until the pitbull walks by the house and then the poodle shuts up.

If the guy really was secure with himself he would simply walk up to them and talk to them not let them know from 100 feet away.

Cat callers aren't weak. They just don't give a fvck. The Probably have no clue what hypergamy means and maybe not even sure what feminism means. In a man's base nature he'd see something like he likes and his lizard brain produces a cat call.

I really wonder how they want to determine where to draw the line...

A guy can make a really innocent remark or he can make a really rude, sexual remark. And there's a huge grey area in between! So what is or isn't acceptable? I'm very curious to see how this plays out as actual convictions according to these laws will happen.

Well I'm here to tell you there is such a magic wand. Something that will make you almost completely irresistible to any woman you "point it" at. Something guaranteed to fill your life with love, romance, and excitement.

Now is a good time for US residents to take a moment to appreciate our First Amendment to the Constitution, which forbids such restrictions on speech. Such a law could never stand in this country. Free speech is a luxury that most people in the world don't have.

In Australia, you now have to express Vocal Consent, each partner before engaging in sexual behaviour (kiss to sex).

Some new laws that was passed. It might be under review right now still.

In France, Catcalling is a serious issue... Girls are getting it 20 times a day lol

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Hate speech, for example, is not protected, so it's not like you can say just anything. Sexual harassment is already against the law, and that could be as little as telling an off color joke within earshot of someone who doesn't want to hear it.

If women start taking a stand against catcalling, I would be very, very surprised if the Supreme Court protected it as free speech. Rights in the US have slowly been eroding away for years.

The Supremes have never upheld a single hate speech law. That's why the "God Hates Fags" Westboro "Church" people get to exist.

I do concede, however, ufortunately for the people involved, unconstitutional laws do exist quite often, merely because it takes years to get to the Supreme Court. Typically the people involved have done their time and been released by the time the law they were convicted under is declared unconstitutional. And they do not receive any money for their troubles, either.

"Marlene Schiappa, France’s gender equality minister"

Why are you so surprised that a country with such a position would pass that law.

Meh, that law is fine. It's all just as simple as not continuing to bother a woman who isn't interested and you'll be fine. Although they could have made the law less specific, don't harass others (as in quit doing what you're doing towards them if your actions are unwanted).

sexual harassment in a legal context doesn't include dirty jokes, people don't go to jail for that, people get fired for that because your company doesn't have any interest in going to court to protect your rights.
