Ok guys, I had orientation the other day. Lots of hot girls, and since they've had lots of orientations over the summer, its only a small percent of the total freshman class. Things look good for the future. :woo:

Anyway, we went thru the morning meetings and stuff, and then it was lunch. I'm in line and there's a HB8 two people behind me. We get up to the front, and I guess this lady was blind, but she just missed me and starting asking the guy behind me what he wanted to order. I was just like, go ahead of me guy, no worries. So then I'm next to the HB and she's like, "Don't worry, I won't try to get ahead of you *smile*". Laughing, then I ask her if she's here alone. I didn't see her talking to anyone before, so I assumed. She said she was, and then I said we should sit together. She was like "Yea, that would be great!". Trade names, get our food, sit down.

The usual: What's your major, where do you live, where'd you go to high school, blah blah. She seemed interested, and she made a few jokes, so good signs. I initiated most of the topics, never letting the silence inbetween get akward. Overall, a good convo.

Then we finished with lunch and walked over to the bookstore. I went off on my own, not staying glued to her. I was waiting to see if she would come find me thru the aisles, but she never did. Meh, one bad sign. Then I see her step outside on the balcony, and she's on the phone. I give her a minute or two, then I go out there. She was just hanging up with whoever it was, I think her mom or something. Then she said she just had to call her sister real fast, and how she has to play mom all the time. Whatever. I look around the balcony area and the people, and she's done in a few minutes. She comes back to me and she's like "Sorry about that, gotta keep up with everything". No worries.

Then she mentions this math placement test she had to go take, and asks me if I had to also. I said no, and she's like, "Awww, I was gonna say we could go together! *smile*". I said I'd walk her downstairs to the place she had to go. On the way, I went for it. "Well hey, in case we don't bump into each other tommorrow (the orientation was 2 days), give me your number and I'll call you to hook up when school starts." Big smile, big "Yea definately!", and got the number.

We were in front of the doors by then, so we said our see ya's and she went inside. Didn't see her the rest of the day. Second day, the main group of freshman was just sitting around, because we finished something early and had to wait. I sent her a text message for fun. "Good morning! Man I'm bored. We got out of our meeting early. Where are you??". Then a few minutes later I realized that she wouldn't know it was me, since the caller id thing would only show my number, obviously. I sent another saying, "This is Ace, the guy from yesterday, in case you were wondering. ^_^". That was like 8 in the morning. Never got a message or a call back from her that day. Hmmm...

So that's all that's happened with her. Its entirely possible I got a fake number, but she seemed to have fun while we were talking, and I never got a bad vibe from her. I dunno, but I'm not gonna worry too much about it. If she just didn't check her messages or whatever, then she should hit me back eventually. Nothing I can do about it now.

School starts August 21st. There will be loooots of girls to pick from then. If this one doesn't work out, screw it.

You did good.

I personally wouldn't have sent her a text message so soon (or sent her a text at all - calling is always better). Orientation is THE PLACE to pick up chicks. The place is usually crowded with hot chicks that don't know anybody. All it takes is some confidence and you can easily get 50+ numbers.

I should know this. I volunteered as a guide during orientation week a couple of times at my uni. The only reason was so I could have the first pick of the talent.

a word of advice, coming from someone who was an independant.

join a frat.

I don't know what college you're going to, but, especially at big universities, it's incredibly boring for a freshman dude that isn't in a frat. think about it: can't get into bars, can't get into frat parties, can't hang out with girls cause they're IN frat parties.

I can't tell you how many times I would walk around the campus on a friday night and what did I see? freshman dudes without anything to do.

Ft

P.S. Okay, it's not THAT bad. if you know enough people, you could probably find a good party once every week or two. but while you're calling up everyone you know to find something, your friends in the frat house have already been partying for the past 3 hours.

I realize this is slightly off topic to your specific question, but I thought I would give you a little advice since I saw you were a freshman.

Any advice is welcome, for sure. I'm going to University of Houston, in... where else? Houston. I think there's only a few frat's on campus, but I didn't see the actual buildings for them anywhere. Its a big campus though, and I haven't been everywhere. Plus, I'm still pretty lost if you told me to go to a certain place. lol.
