FR: Avoid Speeddating

I went to a speed dating event three nights ago. Before the event even started I knew that it was going to be a disaster since of the 17 women all but three weighed at least 160+ and most of them were also short. Of the three two were HB 6 and one was blatently in her late 30s (even though the event was for women 25-32). If I hadn't paid $30 for the event I'd have left on the spot. What was really funny was of the fatties about two thirds said their major hobby was running and/or sports!

I've done a few speed dating events before in my AFC days and never thought the women were that good there.

Every so ofter they send me an email and tell me of the events that they are putting on. As well as speed dating they also put on these big parties at clubs once a month or so.

Since entering my 40's and picking up some DJ's skills and not acting so AFC I've had lots of attention from younger twenty something women.

I have to laugh when I get the email because they sound so unappealing to me. "For $50 you can come out and meet and mingle with over 100 women who are over 40".

Why in hell would I pay $50 to meet a bunch of 40 year old bags when I can meet fun interesting 20 year olds for free.

They also say on their emails that there is still room for men and a waiting list for women, Duh.

Speed Dating is there for the women, especially ugly women. Pretty women get validation almost all of the time. The ugly ones go speed dating and get 10 or 20 guys chatting with them for an hour or so and feel good about themselves. No wonder there is a waiting list for women for those things.

As a man, I find the whole speed dating thing on some level, emasculating.

Anything where you pay for the opportunity to meet women, whether it's speed-dating, high-dollar singles events, match.com, etc., is ludicrous.

Women are EVERYWHERE and all you have to do to meet them for FREE is walk up and talk to them!!!

It was interesting that you mentioned Match.com. Now there are attractive women on Match.com, though I was only able to find about 15 of them for my city, and I use pretty strict filters (18-29, slim or athletic body, single & no kids, want kids in the future).

I did a search on Match.com for my area with just the filters that was mentioned in the dating (i.e 25-32, unmarried). I got about 150 women, 80% of whom were ugly or very plain and another 10% ruling themselves out for whatever reason (wildly incompatible interests). Therefore there seems to be a strong overlap between the female Match.com population and the speed dating population. Of course with Match one can filter out the ugly ladies but the chances of getting a data are pretty remote, whereas with speed dating you can get a 5 minute date but you have to put up with the ugly ones. In both cases I'd guess the few attractive chicks must be in great demand.

Funny indeed. They do too much running.

I noticed that before I booked and it should have been a huge red flag.
