forgetting a woman's name

how do you guys deal with this?

im a fresher at university so i've met quite a few people over the last few weeks

when a girl remembers your name but you forget theirs, its more awkward to ask them what it is again, especially when they think you know theirs

any advice?

to build rapport make up a nickname for her, that solves the problem of remembering their names.

avoid using it.. you don't need to use their name unless they ask you if you remember it do you

Haha I know this situation well from my first year hostel days.

I would find myself talking with a gal who's face I knew and who'd blatantly know my name and all of a sudden they'd go, "you don't know my name do you?"

If anything it worked for me. Being in a foreign environment, everyone a new face, they were just as nervous as the rest of us. The fact they remembered my name and I'd forgotten theirs acted in my favour. I'd joke around with them and tell them to stop being so hard on themselves. I'd automatically have the upper hand in the social interaction b/c of the fact that it seemed like I was more important to them than they were to me...when in reality I'm just terrible with names.

In short, don't worry about it. No-one is going to get terribly offended.

Using nicknames until I could consult someone else worked well for me.

Don't ask for a girl's name if you forget it. Just be cool to her whenever you see her and instead of saying her name just say "Hey". Her name might eventually pop up somewhere by someone else calling her name.

Funny thing about this, girls who are interested in you will get peeved that you aren't using their names and eventually will confront you about it and get even more peeved at you when you admit that you forgot their names, but it won't stop their lust for you.

You could ask her how she spells it. If she asks why, talk about how people have unique spellings for even the most common names and you think its cool and was just curious.

speaking of names..i once accidentally called one of girls i was seeing witha nother girls name that i was also seeing...that got me into some real deeeeepp doggy dooo.

so from then i use nicknames for all the girls..it works..best.lol

Be straight up... don't try and trick it or ACT like you know her name, thats so hollow.

If you talk to her again and want to know her name "Sorry what was your name again?"...its ok to do this. In fact this can kind of help a little maybe - showing higher value sorta... But once you have to ask for it again, then make sure you REMEBER IT.... Cause than it can become insulting after that point - - A general make friends and influence people rule is to remember their names.

This is a fun one that I've used several times.

Usually a good way to do this is to pick the nickname with a C+F line. Something jabbing, but playful.
