Guys, seriously.. I know Musclemilk tastes great and all, but if you've got that kind of money to burn, pick up some beef instead.

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

Lately, I've been wondering whether the (almost) 1g of protein per lbs of body weight..or well ok rather 0.8 on average (considering I have days when I dont eat the way I plan to) is really necessary. I've tried consuming less like 2 or so years ago and I obviously got wrong results. But then again, it was because I ate a lot less food in general (because I didnt need to eat so much to get the protein). My guess is, that even though you do need more protein than the average person who doesn't work out, a lot of guys are fooled by this "you need a **** load of protein to grow" statement that everyone who works out gets to hear. Maybe it's really more the calories not so much the protein (though youll most likely still need more protein than the average joe who doesnt want to build muscle). When I play sports a lot and dont make up for the calories I burn, but still get enough protein I wont gain muscle or strength either. So maybe it's the same thing in general. Maybe you dont need all that much protein and would be fine if you ate more in general (and thus didnt have to force yourself to eat the same boring food every day just because its so high in protein). I mean I know guys who have actually not the slightest idea of the fact, that they (are supposed to) need protein to put on muscle, but still did through working out. But then again, I plan on having finished my mass gaining cycle after several years in one year at the most from now on and thus Im not gonna experiment with that and just keep eating my rich in protein foods :D .

How do yall feel about that though? I bet some of you just believe protein is THAT important because thats what being told to you 24-7 if u work out. But to those who have tried out either way (lots of protein/not so much protein) like me --- have you ever tried either way (lots of protein/not so much protein) with roughly the same amount of calories consumed?

Tuna very easy? Takes me like 2 minutes to open the can and squeeze out all that disgusting salt water it's bathed in.

I get a heart attack just thinking about it.

Every time you put 'maybe' you weaken your argument, which, considering you are arguing directly against researched and proven science, was never very strong to begin with.

Protein contains amino acids. Amino acids are the building blocks of the body. You can't build without building blocks.

I've eaten less protein for a while and the lifts did stagnate. Then I started eating alot of it.. around 1.5 -2 lbs per lbs of bodyweight and I started gaining alot more. From what I've observed it boils down to this:

Lack of enery in gym: Lack of carbs
Lack of strength in gym: Lack of protein

As long as you keep everything else constant.

Where is the research that eating 400g of protein when you weigh 150 is better than eating the same total of calories with 200g protein ?

Yeah, actually I meant to say my point isn't strong at all and I'm not gonna bother trying to change my fairly high protein intake now, if I dont plan on trying to gain mass for any longer than another 12 months at the most. In fact I'm leaning towards I need that amount of protein, but I just had the thought that maybe me and a lot of other guys are wrong about that, because we basically just believe what we're being told..Ive tried eating less protein and didnt stagnate, but looking back at that time I have to say I ate way to few calories during that time (because I get all my protein from foods). No need to dismantle my "argument" or anything, I was just wondering maybe, etc.
and Im really wondering if you or anybody else here has truly tried taking less protein (remember I still kept saying that maybe u didnt need all that much - but was still saying that u most likely needed MORe than the average joe).

That's how I've felt too for a lot of years until now and Ive done the same thing, but: did you make an effort to keep your caloric intake constant? Because..if I did try to eat fewer protein now my caloric intake would probably only reach 3000 cals when I obviously need like 3800+ to keep adding strength/mass (Ive made that experience before...when I play sports for example i have to eat so much more food to be able to pack on mass so I think I have a good feeling for the caloric intake i need).

Anyways Im not saying you should eat little protein I waso nly saying that MAYBE (...) you dont need overly much protein but could do well with eating enough calories and only like 1.5 times the amount a normal person eats or soemthing..
