From a feministing 'Dear Abby' article about wrapping your head around contracting herpes after slutting it up:

I'm a 22-year-old woman with a slightly checkered sexual past that I never had any guilt or shame about until about four months ago, when I was diagnosed with genital herpes. I contracted it through a one night stand and I am having some intense issues with that, given that all the herpes support that I've found around the internet is trying really hard to reinforce this idea that "not everyone contracts herpes through sleeping around!" well, I did. And now I'm suffering the consequences. I don't even have the consolation of slut-shaming self-righteousness. I can't get this idea that I'm being punished out of my head. I went from sex-positive queer to a self-hating emotional wreck in the course of a day.
Check the comments yourself. The advice that's missing: shouldn't it be obvious that sleeping frequently with casual partners is going to DRAMATICALLY increase your chances of contracting a STD? And if it wasn't obvious: maybe the idea of consequence-free sexual activity isn't a good model to be presenting to young people? 22 is not very old -- why aren't the people who stuffed 'sex-positive feminism' down her throat held to account for 'you go girl!'-ing her into a lifetime medical condition?

One of their (better) writers posted an article about Afghan girls SETTING THEMSELVES ON FIRE, because of course they're traded to settle gambling debts or married off at 12 to total strangers -- pressing feminist issue? Of course not, everyone wants to talk about whether guys look at breasts because it's socialized or biological.

Is there any way to return our society to the time of large animals with big sharp teeth?

'Hey! I should have the right to do whatever the hell I want --' *CHOMP*

Oh well... thanks for listening...

Indeed there are consequences to slutting around- one of which is the realization that the attempt by feminists to cancel the Law of Reaping and Sowing for women has failed miserably.

At 22, she should have known better, but willful ignorance seems to be the flavour of the 21st century from everything from sex to finance to foreign policy these days. It's encouraged -- diffusion of responsibility perhaps?

The problem is: Reality > ideology. Always. Checkmate, no protest.

If you're a parent, for god's sakes pass at least this shred of wisdom onto your kids. And for those of you slutting it up yourself, don't fcking cry about it if you end up with a STD yourself. Your choice, your fault.

I couldn't agree more.

This woman (girl) unconsciously drank the feminist kool-aid and woke up to an awakening reality. Unfortunately, it's too late.

Who's to blame?

We all are.

Cheers!

The only bright spot in this whole mindless story is that this "sex-positive queer" ( whatever that means) and her sycophants cannot lay the blame on 'A MAN' for the situation that she has brought upon herself. That must really piss her off even more..

Tell her a little about yourself, but not too much. Maintain some mystery. Give her something to think about and wonder about when she's at home.

You're right of course, but isn't "sleeping frequently with casual partners" the exact lifestlyle that's advocated here? Or is it only the females who can catch the STDs?

How about some f-ed up statistics:

-20% to 25% adults have genital herpes.
-More than 80% of the adult population has oral herpes and a recent study suggests this number could be 98% among adults.
-Genital herpes is more common in women (approximately 1 out of 4 women) than in men (almost 1 out of 5).
-More African Americans (45.9%) have genital herpes than white Caucasian (17.6%)
-Twenty percent to 25 percent of pregnant women have genital herpes.
-If the number of people infected with genital herpes continues to grow at the present rate, nearly half of the US adult population will have genital herpes.
-Genital herpes is the most prevalent viral STD.
-There are more cases of genital herpes than there are of all other viral STDs combined.
-Studies have shown that the vast majority (80-90%) of people who have genital herpes have not been diagnosed.
-The number of cases of genital herpes has gone up by over 30% in the last decade.
-The number of HSV-2 infected people increases from approximately 6% between 12-19 years old to approximately 30% among 30 to 39 years.

if any of you have or had chicken pox, you have herpes.

Whats funny is chicken pox is way more uncomfortable and is far easier to catch than genital herpes.

Genital herpes isn't to dangerous and only affects a tiny part of your body, where as chicken pox affects your whole body and leaves you in a much more damaged state than genital herpes.

You can still go to work and function with genital herpes..but you pretty much have to quarantine yourself for several days if you catch chicken pox.

....yet society is much more terrified of genital herpes ?

its just a scare tactic to prevent people from enjoying sex with each other.

People are going to enjoy sex regardless of scare tactic methods and NO ONE no matter how safe you think you are acting or how well you think you know someone, is guaranteed a clean sexual bill of health.

Also...whats wrong with girls who "slut" around ??? and why do people think its feminists that make women want to sleep with random men ??

Women have been sleeping around with tons of guys since forever..the only difference is they are making it more public these days, but aint nothin' changed...your just NOW starting to see whats been happening for years.

It's only herpes, big deal. About 75% of people have herpes anyway, if you don't have outbreaks once in a while, then the chances are you're probably just a carrier of herpes. It hardly effects anyone's life anyway.

the spearhead had a write up about it. They talk about how women are changing it from STD to STI (sexually transmitted Infection)

One of the things I've noticed about feminism is that they have such an unconstrained vision of "freedom" that they seem to want to be free of reality itself. Nature doesn't care about human ideas of right and wrong, Nature is only about cause and effect. But feminists seem to think they can somehow free themselves from Nature (or reality) itself.

I have the legal and moral freedom to go skydiving if I want to, but I have no illusions about not being free of the cause-and-effect of my parachute not working. Some people want to legislate morality, but feminists seem to want to legislate reality. It's as though they believe that if they think something is morally acceptable, then reality must accept it as well.

It's kind of like a logical extreme of the Moralistic Fallacy:

Examples:
Because warfare is wrong and tragic, it cannot be part of human nature.

Because eating meat is violent and harms the environment, humans have no biological need for it.

Since it is right to treat men and women as equals, the sexes must be biologically equal as well.

Yeah, feminists seem to have a problem with being unable or unwilling to focus on issues of substance.

Speak for yourself, I came for the near-hysterical BPD threads (which are great), and ended up staying for the internet drama. There's no bar in the world with as many characters as there are here.

I'd be happy with the 'right' girl, just haven't found her, am accepting the fact that perhaps I won't, and adapting to the era we live in. There are lessons of value at SS but do keep a critical eye towards anyone advocating lifestyles, whether it's sex-positive feminism, no-marriage, dudes on this forum, whatever. As far casual partners, there is such a thing as *too casual* -- have you never had a 'WTF am I doing' moment?

There are risks associated with casual sex, from pregnancy to HIV to violence where nobody can protect you. Everybody here should be aware of that and not delude themselves that they're protected from it. Condoms are not 100% protection and you should seek STD advice from medical professionals, not internet chest-puffers.

TLDR version: If you can't accept the outcome if you gamble and lose, you shouldn't be at the table in the first place. Know the risks, know who you are, and be careful of anyone trying to sell you something... you only get one chance.

What do you expect coming to a site which name sounds like Fisting? :D

You know, I reckon a lot of people who support feminism have never read what feminists actually write or say. Else they'd all realise what a bunch of retarded lunatics feminists truly are.
