Hey guys

I've been taking fish oil supplements for a about a month now because I kept hearing that's it helps promote muscle repair after workouts or something like that.

But something else happened that I thought was really exciting, and that's it slowed down my hair loss  . My hairline has been thinning and receding since I was about 20 years old. But lately I've noticed that I've been losing less hair in the shower than before when I wasn't taking fish oil supplements.

Maybe it's a coincidence and maybe it's not. Just thought I'd share.

EPA/DHA in fish oil decreases tissue inflammation. I speculate these effect might be seen at the hair follicle level.

How much are you taking in combined EPA/DHA milligrams per day?

i don't take fish oil, but now that i eat 4-6 meals a day (rather than 1) my hair falls out less. i have alot of hair, so the effect has been noticable.

good nutrition has very positive results if you stick with it.

Poor diet is a common cause of hair loss. I lost a load of hair when I tried fasting once.

Basically, when the body doesn't have enough nutrients and enough "fuel" to function, it starts closing down its least important operations in order to preserve the more important ones (heart rate, lungs, liver etc). So if your diet is imperfect, you may notice your nails and hair stop growing at the normal rate. After about 3 months, the hair will shed and because there is no regrowth, you will notice thinning hair or patches.

Scary stuff eh? It's not just one thing that makes the difference though, it's overall diet and adequate nutrition. It may be that the fish oil has given your body a little extra fuel that it needed.

Omega oils have a lot of benefits including increased brain function. It works on a physical level, creating new neural pathways and aiding the flow of impulses through the brain...hence quicker and more direct thinking processes.

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

Can anyone recommend a "good" brand of fish oil supplement that I can purchase at a place like Wal-Mart or Target? There are so many claims out there about quality, toxins, etc....

My hairline started to recede in my late 20s, and grew back when I started taking B-complex and C vitamins and improving my diet.

Omega 3 fatty acids have also helped my skin, joints, and mental sharpness.

fish oil consumption has given me so many positive side effects that i begin to think most of them are placebo -- and then i see photographs, etc. it's the closest thing i've ever found to a wonder supplement.

I should make clear that I still do lose hair everyday in the shower but the ammount is nowhere as much as before.

Some guys have asked what kind of brand I use, I just use the generic wal-mart brand. nothing fancy. If you look on the labels, it has the same ammount of nutrients as the more expensive brands.

I wonder if fish oil will stop my hair from turning grey? It seems that every day I have new grey hairs popping up around my temple.

As well as extra PCBs, cadium, mercury and lead! Yum yums! It's worth spending the extra money on a brand such as Carlson's.

Grey hairs come out due to a lack of Melanin. The pigment that creates hair color.
You might be able to restore some natural color by supplementing with large dosages of B Complex vitamins.
I seriously doubt Fish oil, or EFAs will help color. But will help natural scalp oils that keep hair healthy. EFAs DO help im maintaining normal levels of Testosterone.
If you guys want, you can also supplement with some Saw Palmetto. But you'd have to take larger doses.
Saw Palmetto helps stop the attachment of the DHT molecule to the hair follicles and the prostate.
By blocking DHT you disable the natural course of hair follicles shutting down, and going dormant. And in the prostate, you disable the enlargement of the prostate due to its exposure to DHT.

I think by law they all have to be filtered, but it doesn't mean they get the stuff out. Most of the fish oil supplements on the market say that they pass the CRN monograph test and that's it, which just means that there's still crap in there, just in much smaller amounts. All that crap is going to build up in tissues over time.

Molecular distillation is the best way to purify fish oil; the end product is actually tested to be completely free of contaminants. A high quality fish oil will generally boast about it's purity. Off the top of my head, Carlson's, NOW Liquids, Nordic Naturals and Nutrasea are all molecularly distilled. Out of them, Carlson's is the best value for money, (more omega-3 per dollar).

You think Saw palmetto and b complex will help hair loss or regrow hair too?
