First Compliment Ever about my Body

I've always been pretty skinny...not anorexic or anything but on top of having a thin bone structure I had very little fat/muscle. I've been working out fairly regularly over the past 6 months, started taking protein shakes etc. The gains have gone 'ok'...about 7-8 pounds of muscle in that time frame. Not as much as I'd like but hey I'm making progress right?

So anyways lots of people still think I'm skinny because I still have a thin frame and I don't seem big at all. Not until you see me with a sleaveless shirt or something you would notice any muscle definition. So last night I was goin to the club with some friends and this girl I who kinda used to date and we're sorta friends now was holding on to my arm so she 'wouldn't get lost' cuz she was kinda buzzed. Of course she is grabbing around my biceps, and she comments about how muscular my arm is, asking if I have been working out, and that it was a turn-on etc. That marks the first time any chick outside of my family has given me a compliment about my body! Usually I get called 'skinny' etc, but once finally someone was impressed with my figure (or my biceps atleast) :p.

I'm still gonna work out regardless of what other people think, whether I get compliments or not but at the same time it is nice to get some praise from good looking girls on the results I'm getting.

Most girls I've known in my life didn't like muscles/veins & the simple fact that I trained, which took time away from them.

Don't do it for the girls.

Reminds me of a Kid Rock quote.
He was saying that rock stars all bvllshyt their answers as to why they joined a band.

He was like, of course a muscian will say making music for the love of making music is a reason they started - they're musicians!
The real reason is to get your dik sucked.

I think it's rather the mindset (ambition, discipline, persistence, confidence,...) that it develops that attracts them.

But you're right, maybe they were attracted to how I look like. Could be another one the sirens' mindtricks to make someone stop what he does.

More often than not, the reaction I get one is of a strange "resentment" kinda like you might get from most guys.

It stems from the problem that out in the general public, most people are not in stellar physical shape. Most of the girls I know will try to bust my balls or bring me down with snide comments.

Rarely will I get the "oh your body looks so good, those weights are sure helping, gee!" LOL

If someone feels unhappy with their physique and they know they have been too lazy when it comes to getting their ass out of the couch, they will NOT issue random compliments over someone's physique. Men and women alike. In fact, a helpless bitterness creeps in, resentment, and they will not be happy for you. They don't want to hear about it either.

The only women who would truly be in awe of your chiseled physique and express their appreciation sincerely are the ones who are in great shape themselves. Anything else women tell you is just BS.

Lift for yourself, no one else.

true. Most girls will feel insecure because of the way you look. Another reason why they will tell you they don't like it.

If you stop:
1) you're more available to them
2) your value drops

It's good inspiration. Especially since other people seem to notice improvements before you do. I think most of us (including myself) are too critical of ourselves. Keep it up

It doesn't matter how good-looking you are, how romantic you are, how funny you are... or anything else. If she doesn't have something INVESTED in you and the relationship, preferably quite a LOT invested, she'll dump you, without even the slightest hesitation, as soon as someone a little more "interesting" comes along.

Yes, you should do it for yourself. In my experience I have found that guys that who just do it for women or some other reason like that tend to not stick with it. Do it because you want to do it for yourself, to improve yourself and the rewards will follow in time.

Haha empty, you are Lame3.

Is your brief resonse an indictment of weight-lifting?
You are sufficiently vague so I have no idea if you are
being a smartass or something else.

Yes, I like picking heavy things up, like your fat sloppy ass LOL

Anyways, lifiting this heavy **** in a regulated, progressive fashion leaves me
woth a body that is solid and wide and is a great by-product of my
devotion. Let me tell ya, devotion is not something that comes easy by me

I was a long time smoker. Lifting gave me the disciplinary framework to keep from starting smoking again.

I enjoy the discipline of a workout regimine and healthier foods. I use to never be very disciplined.

It's a stress reliever for me. I'm less cranky toward people.

I'm pretty good at everything I do. I wanted a body to match and be congruent with that.

I also do it for better attracting the ladies

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

first compliment came last week, when someone i hadnt seen in a year casually assumed i took a cycle.

as for women, i started lifting for that reason, but then actually turned against it around 40lbs in. i love lifting and eating entirely lifting for myself, and instead just enjoy porn and an occasional escort. i more or less ignore the 'free' female population, its very peaceful.

i took pics the other day (60lb difference), maybe ill post my story one of these days, this really changed my outlook on life.

Everyone has their reasons for lifting. If you lift to better yourself, good for you. If you lift to impress girls, thats fine too...they can be excellent motivation. Whatever floats your boat.
