Lewis Black, George Carlin, and Mitch Hedberg are my favorite comedians. They all have very different, unique styles as well. I highly recommend all three of them.

I concur! See if you can guess who said these two lines.

"Elevators can't break, they just become stairs"

"I want pancakes!"

Oh, and sorry if I brought this thread back from the dead. I saw a link in the high school bible, and I saw the date right after I posted.

First is expense humor. This is the kind of joke that's made at someone’s expense. This kind of humor can be very funny but you have to be careful with whom you use it. With the wrong person you could end up with a black eye. And, I defiantly hate expense humor when people use it on someone who can't defend himself or herself. If you're going to use this kind of humor make sure the person you're ripping on is in front of you...
Good point with this one. This is not a good type of humor to use on those who you don't know well. And it is also widely misused to draw out the quiet, reserved member of ones group. If you have to justify it to them with a disclaimer such as "I was just playin' with you", it means you've failed. Someone who is truly funny does not need to draft someone as his unwilling straight man (as in comic and straight man). Unfortunately, here in the U.S., especially, it's the unwitting target, who always seems to be put at fault with "Awww...you're no fun!" or whatever.

Brian Regan, check him out, very funny stuff and clean. The nice part about it is you can apply his personality to your own conversation to add humor.

Another vote for Hedberg...

"But I got to smoke fake pot with Peter Frampton. That's a cool story. It's as cool as smoking real pot with a guy who looks like Peter Frampton. I've done that way more."
