In everything in life you are trying to be successful in, there is someone else who has already acheived more than you and can teach you.

When I was in high school learning the basics of animation and video editing I had a mentor who told me what to study and what to do to get my career started. We still stay in touch to this day and he still gives me advice.

In college I was close to one of my professors who taught me about multimedia and about negotiations. He let me watch him in meetings with clients and would challenge me to try things for myself.

Also in college I hung out with two guys who got more ass than the toliet seat. They taught me how to dress (by emulating how they dressed), how to talk to chics and basically how to run game. I got so much ass in college thanks to those two guys.

Find you a real life mentor in the game. Not some guru on a forum who you don't know from Adam. Who could just be keyboarding it up. Who had some success 20 years ago when the world and women were different. Find some guy who is doing it right now. Make some damn friends and learn from guys that are better than you, step up to their level.

If you can't make friends, at least watch the successful guys in your area and do what they do. Real life is where the game is played, and like someone said the other day, the game is local. What works for a guy in NYC may not work for a guy in Alabama or Bombay or AussieLand. The style of dress is local, the way women respond to particular things is local, you have to learn the general rules of attraction and then fine tune it for your local and cultural background. The best way to fine tune is to find a guy who has done it and see what he's doing that you are not. Good luck.

you get off your computer and get out into the world.

my business partner has been hanging out having coffee with a guy who owns one of the best multimedia firms in chicago. What kind of company do we have? a multimedia company...

I completely agree with OP on this one from personal experience. My game did not take off until I was mentored by my best friend. The guy was a natural, he didn't know jack about stupid dating terms (c*ckblock, C&F, wingman). He just does what works for him. Lucky for me his style worked well with my personality. I eventually tweaked it to fit make it work better for me.

Back when I was a bartender, the owner of the bar was my mentor - it was sort of a ****tail type of arrangement.

He taught me about so many things in life, the rights and the wrongs. Those were 5 quality years in which my eyes were opened and I saw the inner workings of society at it's finest and it's ugliest.

Sometimes you find your mentor by accident and gain a wealth of information, sometimes you just find him.

I agree with Warrior. There's always someone out there that will be a mentor whether they know they will or not.

How do you find somebody successful?

The two guys who mentored me in college...actually tutored one of them in computers, he invited me to a party and introduced me to everyone in his circle.

If you're out of college, talk to people out at bars or at the gym...just be friendly and start conversations. If you are a professional, join chamber of commerce or job specific organizations and start meeting people. A none professional mentorship is more of a friendship. So basically, get out there and make friends!

I have been discussing this topic on the 0 for 15 thread. It doesn't really need to be a friend. Just go to a club, and sort out who the real players are, and covertly observe what they are doing. Find someone with a style that most fits your natural style, whether thats really funny, as$hole whatever.

Movies are also good. Sawyer on lost is a DJ, and Sean Connery, Brad Pit, etc movie.

True. But rolling with some true players is even better than watching them. Not only do you soak up game firsthand, you get that social proof, people assume you are in the game cause you are hanging with the players. If you can swing it, do it. But if not, observation and imitation.
