Financially in a hole with my motorcycle

Here's the thing. I feel like I simply have NO money options right now.

I bought a motorcycle for $2000, which I absolutely love riding, but it is far too small now. I need a bigger bike. It's a 250, and I want a 600...at least a 650. I want to start taking it to the tracks, practicing turns, and even start wheeling eventually. Motorcycling is seriously a passion of mine, and I feel totally different when I'm not on one.

The problem is that I can't get financed for anything for the life of me. Plus, I don't have any extra money to help pay for a bigger used bike. So basically I'm stuck with this 250 that I really don't want anymore.

Even with working, I can't save up enough money. It will seriously be another year than I can feasibly get anything remotely similair to what I need, and that really sucks.

Any options here? Ideas?

There's probably a good reason for this. You should probably make sure all of your finances are under control and then figure out what options you have for buying something that costs a lot of money.

Now who's to say that later on you won't want a bigger motorcycle? You've got to make money work for you, rather than working up to save money. Take the amount of money you have and use that as a frame of reference. Got $200? buy something on ebay and sell it to a friend. Now you got 250. Buy something bigger and sell for 300. Just a suggestion. I'd consider selling that bike first.

I too got the motorcycle itch several years ago and went ahead and forked out $14K for a brand new Ducati sport bike. Needless to say, after riding about 500 miles I got bored and it ended up sitting in my garage gathering dust therafter until I sold it for 7K two years later.

The moral of the story is that you should not make a big financial commitment unless you have money to spare. If I were you I would hold off making such a purchase until I was financially well off enough to spend on toys andn concentratre our resources on more important things that will benefit you in the long run (i,e investments, mutual funds, real estate, etc.).

I want to buy a bike for my birthday, but I'm unsure if it is going to be a sports bike or a cruiser, I'm leaning towards a cruiser. Why not just save a little bit of money every month, and work on your credit score?

The cylinder or as they say 250cc or 600cc means nothing. You can have a 250 quicker than a 400cc. What you have to check is the motorbike´s horse power.

Not all 600s are that fast, and not all 250s are that slow. Going to a 400 if you've mastered a 250 is a waste of money. A 400 might be a good bike to start out on if you want something a little more that a 250.

And as long as we're on the subject, I know a GIRL who's first and only bike is a GSX-R1000, and she's been riding it for coming up on a year now. She's not dead yet, and from what I know, she hasn't even laid it down once. Yet, I know a guy who bought a Ninja 250, and two weeks later he went through the back window of a parked VW Jetta at 70mph. He hasn't walked in five years. The bike doesn't go any faster than you tell it to go and it doesn't stop any later than you tell it to. So it's not the bikes fault if you kill yourself, it's your own damned fault.
