Finally saw someone try mystery's method in person...

The setting was San Fransisco, and we had just completed one leg of our road trip in Cali. I had friends from college who lived near downtown so I decided to drop by and check out the town. We hit up a local outdoor festival - basically a party scene outdoors in the middle of the afternoon.

Standing in line, I see two guys somewhat outrageously dressed up. Nothing like Mystery from Pick up Artist, but you could tell they threw on some bling just to get attention. The first thing they did was send in the wingman to talk to my friend, while the first guy approached his girl and started telling a story. At first it seemed like they knew each other, but the guy kept going on w/ his story - it was something strait out of the book , 'the game'. One thing that instantly was noticeable was that these guys were doing something verbatim...there was no confidence at all behind what they were doing. I guess it was amusing to me actually seeing this stuff in action for the first time.

The lesson here? All the theory and literature in the world won't give you confidence. All the lines, acts and skits one can do won't help if you don't act like the ****. Props to them for practicing and going for it. Yes this horse is beaten to death, but real life examples are where its at!

Pretty much that's my attitude. You either **** the girl or you don't. You either have a blast going out or you don't. All these things are something you just do, no advice is needed because you're either just going to make it happen or you're not. Only you can choose to be a failure, be unhappy, be moapy, not have a good time. So if some guy has a good time pretending to be mystery, fine, but to believe that is what ya need to do to get ***** is just sad.

not even close, they didn't have the confidence to even keep them hooked. It was clearly beginners.

MM does has its place atleast. Mystery, to his credit, was a fvcking genius for being able to make this all into a science. His group theory is so spot on to where its like "holy crap!"

But they're just beginners, I wouldn't be too critical of them. Eventually when they do this enough and pickup on things, they'll definitely get better. They just need to stick with some method and keep going with it. But thats why so many new guys like the Mystery Method because it doesn't require balls and its easy to start but at the same time you don't grow all that much compared to something more natural which forces you to get more balls and you overall will grow stronger.

MM is an EXCELLENT tool to get an understanding of certain aspects of social dynamics, but that's where its value stops.

It's like being a pro quarterback. You can know the playbook inside and out, but none of that means squat when you hesitate to execute the plays on Sundays. It takes time and experience to incorporate the lessons into your every day behavioral pattern and to tailor fit them to your natural persona.

I saw Mystery Method being used by another person at a club too a couple of years ago. The guy was terrible. He opened up a group of 3 women, and then IMMEDIATELY starts talking to just one of them. The stuff he was saying was straight out of the book, and when the group left, he tried following them, but then stopped, went back to his friends with a look of disappointment.

Seriously, read his archives, the guy was very creative from that start, but honestly his biggest accomplishment was getting all the cash from guys.

There's a greater lesson to be learned here. They're putting what they read into action and that repeated exposure is where you get the confidence, from doing this stuff over and over again. All the lines and acts and skits aren't meant to help get the girl per se, they're meant to give you a structure to work from so you can get experience and practice the non-verbals and whatnot, that as a whole is what breeds confidence and success down the road. Routines and whatnot amount to nothing more than training wheels. End of story.

It would be interesting to watch that in action, definitely. I've got nothing against techniques if they get you to break the ice with women. That's really 2/3 of the battle right there.
