And this is especially for the martial artists in the forum...

What do you think is the most devastating move there is? I'm not talking ground moves like BJJ chokes and locks. I mean as far as striking, where you can lay someone out with one movement. I guess another way of asking is what is the last move you would want someone to do against you in a fight? For the sake of argument, let's leave out kicks to the nuts.

If I had to guess, I would say a good, clean knee shot to the face is about as brutal as it gets. That's the last thing I think I'd want to experience in a fight. A hook punch to the temple would hurt like b*tch, or a punch to the throat too, or a head stomp, but something about the thought of taking the full brunt of a knee square to the face makes me flinch. And you know you're gonna be spitting out some teeth.

Depends on what you mean by devastating.

Devastating as in felt pain? Some KO shots you don't feel. You're just out and can't remember what happened.

That's a freaky feeling.

That's some crazy ****. I remember that one UFC fight where Gabriel Gonzaga kicked Mirko Crocop in the head and the dude was out cold before he even hit the mat, and his leg buckled and bent in this awkward fold as he went down that everyone swore broke his knee.

A knee to the face would be painful..

I think a strong punch to the jaw would be painful too, since you can "click" it in and it'll basically shake your brain and make you drop like a sack.

I believe you have to not completely follow through with the punch to get the jaw to click properly though.

There are several things you can do, most of these are considered dirty.

Jabbing your thumb in somebodies eye
A palm thrust to the nose pushing upward
Punching the throat
Punching a temple
Kicking the side of their knee

Any one of those would basically instantly end a fight. Most of those strikes would cause serious injury to the person you are fighting.

Done properly (improperly?) a palm thrust to the nose can kill somebody.

It doesn't matter how good-looking you are, how romantic you are, how funny you are... or anything else. If she doesn't have something INVESTED in you and the relationship, preferably quite a LOT invested, she'll dump you, without even the slightest hesitation, as soon as someone a little more "interesting" comes along.

I agree that knees are brutal. I saw a wec knockout the day before yesterday from a flying knee. The Muay Thai clench basically pulls your face down into the knee strike. Anderson Silva is a master of knee strikes from the clench.

I caught a knee to the nuts in my first fight. Even with a cup, it just sucks the life out of you. The ref didn't see it, so I had to keep fighting. I seem to have invented some sort of "nut-fu" blocking, where one hand blocked punches while the other cradled my crushed balls. After that, I pinned the guy up against the cage and landed a knee to the inside of his thigh so hard that the whole thing just kind of grossed me out. It was like hitting a cow with a sledge hammer, the sound was a big "thock." The guy moved a lot after that, I could tell it hurt. He spent that evening holding ice on the leg I kneed, because it had swollen up dramatically, and was noticeably bigger than his other leg. Knee strikes hurt.

If you throw in shots to the groin, every one of the above techniques is practiced in Krav Maga. As well as more standard martial arts moves.

Palm thrust to the nose won't kill unless the guy drowns in blood. There is no bone up there to shove into the brain. It'll ****in hurt though.

I've always wanted to learn Krav Maga, but I can't find any trainers for it anywhere near me.

From the Muay Thai I've done, elbows and knees to any vulnerable points are your best bet. You can land a harder strike with less impact pain to your own body if it's done properly. I imagine an elbow to the face will hurt like a ***** - broken teeth and/or nose are not going to be pleasant. Blows to throat or nuts are going to be brutal as well.

in most fights people are too preoccupied trying to imitate a boxer trying to protect his head.

A very effective maneuver that isn't considered 'dirty' would be to punch him straight on in the solar plexus. It's a little below where the pec muscles end. It might kill them though . . .

Or if you just want to stay alive use two fingers and stab them in their eyes (right hand - push 'up' into the eyes) followed with a punch to the throat straight afterward (left fist). Do this as soon as the situation gets aggressive before they expect anything. The first hit is critical in staying alive.

Knees are brutal, there is so much force behind them. Remember those old Pride fights when they allowed knees on the ground? It was almost sickening to hear a 230 lb dude's knee collide with another man's head.

I think direct knees and kicks to the heads can be the most brutal. However if we are taking about easiest technique to execute that will probably have the highest connect percentage its got to be the overhand right...

Potentially devastating, but easy to break a hand. That's how Urijah Faber busted his mitt on sun against Mike Brown. I know in boxing the left hook has a high contact percentage as well.

Punch or headbut to the throat. If the voicebox breaks and begins swelling you're ****ed.

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

A hammer motion swing with your fist on the bridge of someone's nose. An easy move that doesn't look pretty but is effective and carries alot of power due to the momentum.

It doesn't take a whole lot to break one's nose which could result in great amount loss of blood, great deal of pain/disorientation as well as your eyes being immediately covered with tear fluid (it will be hard to see the attacker) and eventually have the entire area swell up (people with broken noses often get black eyes as a result). Not to mention you will have difficulty to breath and thus your stamina won't be so good.

Also if the other guy doesn't know how to punch proprely or punches in a bad area (such as the forehead) he could break his own hand and thus will be virtually defenceless against a counter attack.

True, the knuckles are very fragile. That's why I'm a fan of palm-heel striking. They pack as much power but pose no risk to the attacker. You could hit a brick wall at full power with hell of your palm. It might hurt a little, but you won't break anything. Punch a brick wall and your knuckles are shattered.

That's true to certain extent but when you raise your palm, you also leave your wrist exposed while placing it in an awkward raised manner.

The safest method I would think is curling your arm and throwing a side elbow to someone's face. The bone in your elbow could probably absorb any shock recieved when it lands on someone's face or even using a downward elbow (which is illegal in the UFC due to its devastating injury potential) on someone head.

Yeah there must be something wrong with palm-heel strikes, as djdamage said, or we'd be seeing them in mma...

Create self-fulfilling prophecies. Always assume the positive. Assume she likes you. Assume she wants to talk to you. Assume she wants to go out with you. When you think positive, positive things happen.
