Tomorrow will be a good day to watch the games. I'm pulling for Italy anyway, and I'm American, so it was perfect when they tied, and now they can help eachother out a little.

WTF was with the Argentina-Netherlands game? Play to win, for Christ's sake. I hate it when teams hold back like that.

Yeah, looking forward to the USA v. Ghana game to see which of their teams show up. Both had one dreadful and one very good game.

When I first started watching the Italy/USA game, it took me a little while to properly believe USA was the team in white. The play was in Italy's end almost the entire time until USA had to play shorthanded. That surprised me to no end.

There was nothing wrong with the ARG-NETH game. I think you have seen another match then we did!
There was no holding back in football, they do went for victory and both teams were pressing. The only shame was that there were no goals. In quality it was one of the better games so far on this tournament.

Yeah. It was a really nice game. Great defending by Boularouz from Holland.
Not so bad as a result. Holland will be playing against Portugal now, instead of Mexico but that's ok. If you want to be the best you should be able to beat any team :p

I wonder what's with van Nistelrooy, he hasn't played any good game so far in the tournament (even though he scored once) and got substituted every game. Come on man, it's the world cup, go for it to the fullest! Like the B-players did yesterday.

Czech are in trouble. 1-0 to Italy at 75th minute and if they loose then they are out of the comp which will be dissapointing because they are a top side.

USA team stinks...so much for all of the hype.

Where the hell was Landon Donovan the whole tournament?

Claudio Reyna (Egghead) is also supposed to be some "superstar" and he accomplished nothing in this world cup and in the one in 2002

I found one thing we Americans should be proud of throughout this tournament: we never dive. And when we do get tackled, we get right back up. None of that whiny sissy clutching-the-knee faking injuries in the US squad, something that can't be said for almost any other country in the tournament.

Doesn't mean we're good at soccer :(

Actually, US national team has been making major improvements in the last year and I'm very sad you didn't make it to the second round this time.
Italian reporters (I don't know how you call them, they are the ones that talk during matches on TV) underlined what you said, your players were very manly from this point of view. I hate when the game has to be suspended for like 2 minutes or more and then he gets up and he play like nothing happened, right because NOTHING actually happened.

Actually, nobody here in Europe would call Claudio Reyna a "superstar", since we call that just players that everybody (even people who don't like soccer) have heard of. Most people that are pretty acknowledgeable in soccer never heard or at least don't remember the name of Claudio Reyna, so it's not surprise that he didn't accomplish much during world tournaments.
Your problem is that you don't have any excellent personality, although your overall team is pretty good.

Wow, the Brazil-Japan game was a complete pleasure to watch....those Brazilians play the game the way it should be played, hardly any fouling, constant teamwork, and smiles on their faces. Those guys are inspiring, real class acts. Even though Ronaldo is a shadow of his former self, I think Robinho kept giving him oppurtunies cus they wanted him to match the record for second most goals scored in the World Cup. Like a tight brothership. It's weird, it's like they always know where the ball is going to go like some kind of sixth sense......freaky.

I'm a little embarrased of the U.S on the other hand, they clearly didn't show up to Germany to play. The thing that pisses me off the most is they don't believe they could have done anything differently. No constructive criticism and all, they just sort of keep saying, "We're better than this." No you're not. Stop assuming that you deserve better and PROVE to us you do.

Go Aussies!!!!! Second round vs Italy don't let the wonders stop now just please don't let Kalac anywhere near the pitch again. He was the worst keeper I have ever seen, my u16 keeper could of saved that shot that went in.

It wasn't a bad match, not the best but certainly not the worst. In my opinion Argentina will take some beating, Holland looked stretched just to try and live with them yesterday, Messi, Teves and Riquelme running things and 2 of those were replacements!!!!

Holland were reduced to long range shots which never really looked like threatening, i think Cocu came closest when they did get into the box in the second half and brought a good save from the keeper.

Holland did defend very very well though, but never looked a threat to the Argies.

Sarge On...
Yeah, but Messi and Riquelme are top notch players (I personally think they are Argentinas two best, though Riquelme can disappear at times)! Not to mention, Teves is one of their best performing players, though he does try to do a bit too much sometimes. I think Argentina had a stronger squad on there than Holland, it will even up a lot when you throw on the Dutch first side. But I agree, Argentina are going to take a LOT to beat! Them V Germany in the quarters is going to be INCREDIBLE!

Yeah, GO THE AUSSIES!!

Through to the next round, deservingly so! They have played the best out of their group behind Brazil! Although I doubt they will be able to break down the Italian defence! God damn Italy sucks to watch, no matter how many times I watch them, they just bore the hell out of me! Hopefully at least we can hold them to a draw and get Schwatzer in goals, he is the man in the shootouts!

Some awesome clashes coming up. Looks like Germany V Argentina. Portugal V Holland, England V either Portugal or Holland. Possibly Spain V France. And Spain V Brazil. All those before the semis even begin! Damn, exciting!

Yeah, I was very disappointed with that result, and that FUKCING RED CARD!! You cant come back against Italy with ten men!

Nedved played his usual awesome self! It was obvious Baros was out of form, having not played for such a long while. They needed Koller in there also. Nothing seemed to work out for Czech this tournament, even though they could have been one of the most dangerous teams if it did!

Oh well, Brazil V Ghana will be a cracker!

YES, France made it through! Damn they are cutting things VERY VERY fine!

What a round of 16 clash though, France V Spain!! I think with Zizou back, France will be very dangerous in this match, may possibly put a holt to that unstoppable momentum Spain seems to have built up. Then a Brazil V France quarter, revenge for the Brazilians for France 98!

The tournament has really shaped up now! With greater matchups than I could have dreamed of! Other than Switzerland V Ukraine, every other match of the tournament from here on in should be a cracker!
