In the morning I approached 2 random people just for confidence. Random conversations started with situational openers. Nothing happened - I am still alive. They were more nervous than I am.
Then there were classes...
I was going home from a workout. DEAD TIRED Where I have to switch trains, there's about 10 min wait. So I decide: what the hell? Let's do a couple of approaches.
I psych myself up: It's a social experiment. It isn't personal. The mission is to get take it past the comfort level of the girl and get rejected or close.
Lots of UG, lots of couples. I see a girl sitting alone:
Me: Hi, is there any chance you go to U of X?
Her: Yeah, I do
Me: I think I've seen you in a philosophy class.
Her: Oh no, not philosophy. I'm a bio major.
Had a 5 min convo, it was quite hard to keep it going because she had her voice broken and talked really quietly. She was also really pale and sick, so I didn't want to get close.
So I just babbled 95% of the time, leaving her nods and one word answers. Didn't close. Too ugly.
But the mood went up. It was fun.
Then at a different station I see a HB 8 stretching in the middle of the station, waiting for my bus I sit beside her.
Me: what are you doing? (with a confused look on my face)
her: *laughs* stretching
Me: why?
Her: I had volleyball today
Me: So why are you stretching if you've had it already?
Her: Oh, I have a sprained ankle/joint.
Then I explained to her that it would be better to leave it alone or it could get really bad. We're both in our first year in different unis, so I asked her about that. Then we got on the bus and talked some more.
She's not very social as she said. Didn't make lots of friends in the uni yet, and it's been 2 months. She kinda looks like a library chick I know - glasses and a bit conservative. Plays intermural volleyball and is quite interesting overall. She started mirroring me about 4 mins into conversation.
We are talking and I notice that my stop is soon. So I say:
Me: Ok, I'm getting off. I have 30 sec to get your phone number.
Her: Ok, let me write my email.
Me: Give me your phone number, I don't use emails. (total bull****, I have to have an email at uni LOL, but I forgot about it at the time)
*Gives me her phone numba, I get off*
I am not sure if the digits are valid though. She seemed a bit unnerved when she gave it to me, like she was lying or something. Then maybe she was shy? Who knows. I'll find out in a day or two... Maybe it's just my insecurities
Anyways. I feel ****ing great.
Cons:
*I didn't get any kino in.
*When we exchanged names I put my hand for a handshake. Kinda impersonal.
*Wasn't confident. Did not expect to number close when I approached.
*Not a lot of EC from her. Apparently I wasn't interesting enough
What say ye about this?
