Well if you have something like "my vagina says open for business" posted onto the internet or another public domain, as vague and direct as it is, you can't not expect a backlash from the ignorant, or the simply uninformed thinking it means you're a slut. Sorry, but not everyone is familiar with "the vagina monologues" (as if a name like that is to be taken seriously). Couple that with the fact that in China, there's disdain for white people here anyway, and the stereotype that 'white women are easy', you can't be surprised if people make that assumption. Now, if the article had said, this was the Chinese version of the vagina monologues, and explained what that is, then maybe people would have been more clued-in. I blame the article, personally.

I don't remember the V Monologues, when I once heard the script. I personally disagree with the way of empowerment. The vagina is what defines us as female, but using that as a way to demand equality and respect is the wrong move. I have soooooo much beef to go against that to prevent the exact sort of **** that women is protesting about with feminism I don't even want to get into it. If women were more logical than emotional, we ould have suffer less of the ****. If we can dish it out.. we better be able to take it.

If people did their research beyond one website alone, they would see an entire article written about WHY this was done and what version the play was. Perhaps sudden attacks are not the way to go about voicing your opinions considering you're entirely wrong in your assumptions. I suggest you watch some of the ridiculously titled Vagina Monologues. You might learn a thing or two about respecting women.

Whitegirl, it is unfortunate that you took part in this play. While some of the monologues were funny when I heard it as a teenager, I have learn a bunch of wildly unfair accusations thrown at men just because of feminism. I as a female had plenty of **** dealt to me by once trying to join an all female society. I ended up not staying because of the catty bull**** that goes on as oppose to just the normal clubs. Feminism is produced in an unhealthy way and we as women need to have thicker skin for this bull**** or we won't gain the respect we are supposidly striving for.
One of my friends have 2 daughters, and for many others with youngins, it is easier and more logical to prep and protect your kid for the battles of society than to make stupid unfair rules to bubble everyone else from your daughter. Be proud individuals, gain rightful respect, don't use the word feminism to sway things to your advantage because that is unfair if fairness is what you are fighting for. Don't think its okay to accept that men cannot hit women while women can hit men for ridiculous reason and to not expect a hit back. Soooo soo many reasonable things women can do. But like someone has already said, we've been dealt the biological deck, and society has made some really ridiculous notions to sway our way instead of fixng the real problem. We are inherently sexist just as a female I like guys naturally. I am sexist for choosing men and vice versa. We can't really be equal if our emotions and body strength are never equal. The only equality within us is being human and being decent to each other.

Honestly, for me, this was an assignment, and being the ONLY person in this class not a fluent speaker of Mandarin, the feminist aspect of this was completely lost on me - I'm mostly concerned with being deported, not feminism. That's why I am so defensive. Had I known it would blow out to this proportion, I certainly would not have taken part.
