Interesting strategy that you have advised. But I would add this in as a warning:

Sometime when a guy has multiple female friends as opposed to having just a few, the women who notice him (and these chicks together all the time) will say to themselves one of these 5 things:

1. Oh, he must really be "The Man" since he's always surrounded by a bunch of chicks.
2. Oh, he must be their "Male Girlfriend"---because they're treating him just like he's another one of the girls.
3. Oh, he must be the "nice guy brother of one of the women in the group.
4. Oh, even though he's around a bunch of attractive women---there has to be something "wrong" with him that'll explain why no woman in the group isn't already ALL OVER HIM.
5. Or lastly---Oh, he must be Gay!

Here's the bottom line:

Every move a man makes while he's with other women is usually scrutinized to the Nth degree by the other women who see him. This is why we must remain "alert" and "flexible" in our interactions with them---because they're always watching---but are usually off-base when it comes to accurately assessing us as men.

So always be mindful of this when it comes to spending TOO MUCH time with female orbiters because those same orbiters will also be the one's "Hating on you" if they see some random chick you just met---start to get more interest from you than THEY do.

I would question why guys need orbiters. Women need men for a variety of reasons - maybe someone to come change their tire when they need it, or to come put in a new light fixture, fix the hole in their roof, escort them to events, whatever. The OP mentions maybe having sex with them, so that would be cool, but then I would consider them plates rather than orbiters.

An alpha male will hold court with many people, especially females. The company of women on occasion is as valuable and insightful as that of men; nothing beats first hand personal experience. And, I have lost count the number of times I have been socialising with women and attracted the attention of others. Pre-selection should be a weapon of choice.

However, the term 'orbiter' implies low value. By all means socialise with quality individuals, but socialising with low value people lowers one's own value. If you have a woman orbiting you that you don't wan't to fck, she's just a friend, and she'd best know it, else-wise her own romantic interest will end up indirectly c0ckblockjing you.

I agree. If I saw a guy hanging out with a bunch of women I would assume he was gay or a player.

Guys should learn to be friendly with women. There are several women in my BJJ and Muay Thai class. I tease them and be playful, a couple of them laugh a lot and I joke they are practicing their elmo technique. However, I wouldn't ask them to all go out to dinner with just me, that would be weird. If I wanted to date one, I'd ask just her out, and if it was just a casual teammate outing why wouldn't other guys be there too?

A masculine guy has close platonic relationships with men and close sexual relationships with women. That's how a guy learns to consistently act in a masculine manner. A man and woman being close platonic friends would mean that one or both of them are behaving in the opposite role, which will reduce their attractiveness in their romantic relationships.

unless the woman in question can't tell the difference between just friends and having plates/orbiters, which is doubtful
