Gonna be 27 in a few weeks, ugh!

To the older, more experienced guys: when did you feel that your youth was over? is 27 'old'? Bah, I don't want to grow up.

You mean feeling mature? of course it happen to all of us once we get close to 30.

If you instead mean feeling old, drop a couple of lines at the cosmopolitan magazine,im sure they have to useless psychologist like many women magazines that is used to that kind of questions.

Seriously, men get older like wine while girls like milk so take it easy ;)

I was too busy being a young Dad and enjoying life with my daughter. I didn't feel old until I was in my 30s and single. Looking around at my friends, coworkers and old schoolmates. I don't feel so old anymore. I feel pretty much on point. I'll feel old at 50 +

Eh, you are old at 22 in America. Seriously. You need to get serious and find a woman. Women get to be young until they die in America. Reason you guys covet "milfs" and "cougars". Too bad you were not born in Italy (and not Asian or black...Italians are pretty racist). You could be 40 and live at home with "mammina", while taking trips to Prague, Warsaw, Riga, and Tallinn dressed up in $300 pairs of jeans, shirts with hearts on them, and $350 pairs of oversized sunglasses that you wear in the dark hoping to make eye contact with a 16 year old. In between you could walk around the center of your town all dolled up texting "Mamma" every 30 minutes and finishing the night off playing FiFA on the PS3 (Italians rarely buy an XBOX). To go full-blown Italian you can buy a SLR camera and pretend to one day become a high-fashion photographer. Oh yeah! Pray that your hair turns grey at a really young age.

Beh, take this shirt and combine it with a fanny-pack (considered chiq among Italians) and avoid the tattoos (not popular among most in Italy) and just walk circles around the center of your town. Short haircut is essential. Get a deep tan and try to look older. Text your mother every 30 minutes to let her know when you are coming home. Ke Bello!! You are a middle-aged Italian and hence still a child. BTW, this dude dated that feminine dude George Clooney's girlfriend many many years ago. Lol, funny.

Okay, to be an America you just go with this style. Have fun! Freedom gets you this!

I'm 28 and have never felt old. I feel exactly the same as I did when I was 21. But I know what you mean. I remember back when I was 18 or 19 and I would think about what it must be like to be 30. "That would suck" is what I'd tell myself. But know when I think about it, there's nothing wrong with 30. Forty might suck though!

What's all this talk about being old at 27?

Looking back to 10 years ago, today I'm a much better person physically, mentally and in all aspects.

I just got back from a 4 hour kayak trip to an island offshore. Me, a guy in his 30's and a guy in his late 50's. Age is no limit, if you look after yourself.

Sure, one day in the future you may be old. One day you might even die, if you're unlucky. But not this day.

Today you will get out there, SteR, and show them what you're made of. Go get 'em Tiger!

Idk, but apparently the time goes fast. Was having a discussion about this at work the other day (if you can call it a discussion). Was leaving work and this older guy I work with asks me where I'm going and why don't I have a drink with these 3 girls at the bar (one I'm interested in but I suggested we chill and she blew me off by saying she works too much). I'm like "nah, too tired" and he says "one day it won't work anymore!!". Lmao.

Wow, feeling old at 27?

I'm turning 29 next week and I don't feel old at all. The fact that I'm going to a 4-year university and being surrounded by young people probably helps.

The funny thing for me is that I'm stronger and in better shape now then I was 10 years ago. I'm also still super horny.

The only real difference between then and now is that I'm more mature and have a better sense of responsibility. One thing for sure is that I don't feel or even look my age.

haha, thanks for the responses guys!

Truth be told, I am still in great physical health, I have a decent job and I suppose on the outside everything looks rosy.

It's just a strange period because a lot of close friends are settling down and getting married, having kids blah blah blah. Strangely enough I don't wish to be in their position (I still feel waaaaaaaay too young to get married) yet it is quite a crappy feeling drifting apart from some of your friends due to a change in priorities.

I miss the days when there used to be like 20 of us going out in the evening.. now it's more like 4-5 :(

Pff, I feel old at 22 with all the work i have to do and with planning of the future (I'm almost out of Uni, so I have to think about jobs and crap achievements).

It seems like I'm gonna be 30 tomorrow, 50 in a week, and life has passed away and I haven't done many things that I'd truly enjoy.

Also, with the humongous amount of time I have wasted and want to make up for, it seems that I'll never get too far...

Oh sh!t !

It's not really about *old* or *young*

It's the realization that your life is halfway over, and there is no guarantee that you or I will even live to 60

It is quite a liberating thought, death is coming for everyone of us, no one can escape, not even the rich, the proud, the Alpha. How you respond to this is the fun part.

Its not going to go away. You are going to get old and then one day you are going to die. Accept it. When you are 90 and in a diaper in a gero-farm some day, you'll wish you were a youthful and exuberant 55.

OK now for the good part. I had getting old anxiety in my late 20's which didn't let up until my 30th birthday. Then life was a breeze. A lot of my friends felt this way too. Funny how younger people are more fearful of aging than older people. I'm scoring more quality ***** now than I ever did in my 20's.

This was never an issue for me, until very recently. I'm 53 and now I realize that I was emotionally stunted all these years, which manifested as seeming to be 15 years younger than I actually was at any given time. My friends all would say that I drank from the fountain of youth because I look and act so young. I didn't realize that I was emotionally arrested at a certain age level, perhaps 18 or so.

When I turned 50 I started waking up. Now I recognize my age and I'm struggling with it for the first time in my life. So much time wasted, so much sleepy living, as if I were going to live forever. The worst thing about waking up and killing of the "boy" (becoming a man) is recognizing bad habits and trying to change them. It is brutally difficult at age 53.

But you know what? I'm doing it. It is massively painful and challenging, but I'm facing it.

Is Atom Smasher just venting or is there a moral embedded in his story? That's for you to decide.
