EDIT: One more thing ... you have to remember that this is the H&F site on sosuave which means that many people are going to be coming here with different ideas and desires than those going to bb.com or some other site. For some guys, taking a multivitamin and realizing that they shouldn't eat processed foods or sugars is a huge education for them. And, really, that's all they're looking for. Some of the most natural DJ's I know don't work out and eat (and drink) horribly and aren't fat per se (from a societal view, not from a bodyfat % view). To many guys, they're just looking for ways to feel a *little* better and maybe drop the extra 10 pounds they picked up from drinking too many scotches. They're not looking to change their lifestyles by stopping smoking and dropping the scotches whatsoever -- they just want to drop ten. So, take this board with that in mind. Remember, the H&F on this site is about anything that is going to help make someone feel and look their best. We also get questions on stds and all types of other issues.
I wanted to point out that this is a good point, prosemount, and I wanted to add a little bit to it.

This board was my first "health and fitness" board, and the first board that introduced me to it. Why did I take so long to go actually look at other boards???

Simple, this board is small (H&F, relatively).

I really enjoy the fact that the pages don't cycle faster than you can read because there's a million guys posting. The threads are easy to follow, easy to keep up with, and it's very personable. Having this smallish community makes it very easy to learn, and you can read the threads without being intimidated by a 100 page thread.

It doesn't really take that long to read the entire bulking guide, or cutting guide, and there's a lot of good info in there.

Other posts?? They'll get a GOOD reply on this board in a matter of a day or so, and the "experienced" guys will probably chime in, and that will give people something to go off of.

I haven't seen any extremely long rants or threads on this board that actually went on as discussions for a long time, and for a H&F board, I think this is a great one. Especially when you have people contributing who know what they're doing - regardless of whether they're a fan of high volume or low volume.

Roling your eyes at me...well, semag, *cough* if you haven't realized it yet, most people here don't even know the basics. These links are ocourse directed to those who acually lift weights. If you look at the first page, thats what most people in h+f ask about. The info here is limited. Im not talking about actually hanging out at the bb.com forum. Im talking about reading articles that explains the basics in a very good way. The basics of nutrition, supplyment, training and the understanding of different methods in training. Atleast they'll know the basics from reading the info on the links. After that, forums like elite fitness and many others will be a better choise. But bb.com is a good place for the basics since they have articles on the basics. But you probobly knew that anyways  Their teen forum knows more than the h+f forum.

good point, too, semag. I learn more here on the H&F than any other board that is actually dedicated to H&F because for the most part there aren't 10,000 meatheads cluttering up the board with their dumbazz remarks. What we have here is just a handful of very very smart guys who know fitness and nutrition and who can teach a LOT of guys who range from the very interested to the casual fitness guy.

I didn't mean to hang out at the bb.com forum. I said read the articles and and learn the basics. By doing that you can form your own oppinions and follow the school of thought that fits you.

Aprat from the fact that there as so many members that you will probabably never recognise posters unless you got a real good memory. Most people there have htis obbsesion to get huge, like 240lb's which is somewhere diffrent to my goal!

They got normal arms and chest, but there lats actualy make there upper body look like a large triangle, and i do not mean that in a good way!

Pro bodybuilding is all about extreemes. The trick is not to get caught up in it. I remember when i first started lifting, i just whanted to be a litle bigger. 180-190 lbs maby at max. After two years, i wanted to be 220-240. Then one day i was thinking about my goals when i started out and realized that i dont whant to be that big after all. It got to my head. Kinda like reversed anorexia. I like the bodies of Larry Scott and other lifters in the 60's and 70's alot better than todays freakshow.

Only give advice or info to the student when they are ready. If they are serious about fitness they will "take" good advice/info.
