They hurt, especially if there was good IOIs and everything. I'm feeling kind of hurt and down about it, but I guess its just something I need to toughen up to.

Oh well.

I think I built this up in my head for a while. I was keeping busy for a few days with different things, meant to call her, but put it off, so I was thinking about it for a few days. So bigger let down then I was expecting.

First off, you are taking action - you are trying to get girls' numbers.

That is to be commended

Rejection hurts - but you get used to it. There is an element of randomness and besides, you are not every girl's type and vice-versa, not every girl is your style.

But think of this as a *test* of your masculinity - can you continue to believe in your high value despite the fact that a girl just rejected you? Think long and hard about that.

I remember once I had an awesome conversation with this girl, and she really liked me, I could see it in her eyes. I got her number. I called her and set up an outing, she said yes. Then she bails on me at the last minute.

I was shocked, then very annoyed, that definitely stung.

In the end, I still love being a man even though you have to deal with rejections - you get to make moves on girls - whereas girls just have to sit there and wait and hope a guy makes a move on them.

I used to get those at the beginning of my game until I device a strategy to have fake-number free, haha. You'd know if a girl/woman gives a fake number. The way to know is she will ensure that you have the correct number by repeating the number one digit at a time after giving it to you, yes including the area code.
If you're not sure on the authenticity of the number, simply say "let me call you so you have my number as well." Don't wait for her to respond. If it is a fake number, she'll try to give you some damn excuse. Just tell her "good bye." and leave.

Exactly. I do this all the time, it never fails (I can also call the number she is telling me and I'll see if her phone rings or not).

I like this checking out the number stuff. I know i've grabbed a chick's phone before and dialed up my number, that worked good. I have a feeling, like Trader's experience, that she would have flaked not committed if i got the right number anyways.

Its just hard, there were some good signs she was really in to me, so i guess it caught me by surprise. Guess you never really know. Trader, I can continue. I didn't take this as an ego blow, i was more just pissed. Stung was/is totally the right word to describe it.

One of the bigger positives here is the idea of spinning plates. So far I'm spinning one, and working on adding at least a second. Its a totally different dynamic, and makes rejection easier, since if you want some, you can go get it.

A real number that does not lead anywhere is just as bad, maybe worse, than a fake number. At least you know from the get-go she's not interested rather than getting strung along over the phone or on dates.

I know it sucks to get rejected/blown-off but trust me it happens to you enough times eventually you get used to it
