Is it true that you need to change how you lift every so often in order to keep gaining strength?

You do, however, have to switch up the exercises you do every month or so if you're trying to grow your muscles.

It's a badly-kept secret.
Fiction.

Your muscles aren't as smart as many people give them credit for. Doing a machine curl instead of a barbell curl won't *shock* your muscle into growing. It will hardly even notice the difference. The only think you'd be doing is isolating your bicep more by doing a machine curl (not good in my opinion).

Generally, don't chop and change exercises.

Only change them occassionally to stay motivated.

You don't need to change up exercises to keep growing, I find it helps me to change the excerises adn their order as well with the amount of reps and sets I do. It's all about what works best for you though. Just experiment and see what works, the same stuff doesn't work for everyone.

Men frequently err by talking too much. They often monopolize conversations, droning on and on about topics that bore women to tears. They think they're impressing the women when, in reality, they're depressing the women.

Yeah, if you want to shock, it's best to do it by upping reps for a couple workouts, or by taking a week off.

...

I beleive changing your workout helps in a variety of different ways....

every now and then change the order of exercises, the exercises themselves, the reps you're shooting for, and the sets....

it's just something different, i notice gains in myself with a switch things up a bit.
