Eye Contact and Smile

I just thought of this when thinking about cold pickups. Is it better to get eye contact and smile from her before approaching. Does it have more of an impact than just talking to her right out of the blue without initial contact?

When you think about it, if she does the it back she is kinda saying it okay. Or she could be doing it out of common courtesey.

I agree, eye contact and a smile is definitely a golden ticket. Eye contact or fleeting glances WITHOUT a smile can mean various things.

1.) The chick DOES indeed like what she sees
2.) You have been looking at her and she keeps looking back at you wondering "I hope this a-hole is not looking at me.
3.) She thinks your ugly or you remind her of someone.
4.) OTHER


TO answer your question, when you get eye contact and a slight smile from a stanger chick, that is 100% a good sign. It takes the pressure off because you know the chick likes what she sees. Of course, girls in customer service or hospitality positions do not apply.

Getting good eye contact and a smile is a very good sign, if you go after girls who give you these then your success rate will be pretty high no matter what you say.

Going after girls who haven't even noticed you is a little risky, I guess there is no harm in it but make sure you don't frighten the girl. You need that initial attraction and by missing out the eye contact and smile stage your going in with a much smaller chance of success.

It's definitely best to get the eye contact -- preferably with a smile -- before approaching.

Sometimes they might do it out of courtesy, but in those cases they'll typically be equally courteous if you talk with them, even if they're not interested in you.

I definitely take it as a "green light," and rarely approach a woman without a buying signal or a good opener (like the way she's dressed or something that's going on at the time).

Absolutely.

It's BL for her being inviting and showing you that she won't bite. So you have all of 1.5 or 1.7 seconds to smile back and begin walking over there to say "hi" (or otherwise initiate conversation.)

Look away, look down, take 1.5 minutes or 10 minutes or 3 weeks to go over there and you've insulted her or showed you have no balls.

Eye contact + smile means immediate engagement or forget it. You have to be prepared for knowing if you want to meet her (kill that indecision!) move immediately and have something to say (don't overcomplicate it, usually "hi! I'm xxx..." will do).

Quite often she'll pointedly give no such indication and will be highly annoyed when a guy does approach anyway. I can't fault them for being annoyed since it is an entirely natural reaction and shows that the guy is simply not hearing any of the sub-audible body-language messages for when a woman is open to being approached and would welcome it from you.
