Eye Contact and Name Question

I have a question about eye contact with strangers.


When I am walking around on campus or in a store, what is the best way to make eye contact with people? I usually avoid eye contact, but I think that is communicating insecurity.

Also, how to you move to familiarity (first name) with people that work at stores or shops or the like that you see a lot? Should I just start calling them by their name?

Eye contact is easy. Just look in someone's eyes.
I've found that I'm usually deep in thought when I walk around on campus and my brow is somewhat furrowed a lot. So if I look at a girl I think is pretty I do that natural extra lengthy look at her, but I've needed to stop the furrowed brow. So what I'm saying is don't have a furrowed brow.
Don't have a sh!t eating grin either.
