The testosterone production increases, but your body uses it to build muscle.

Not only that, but in the case of running testosterone level decrease to subnormal levels after the initial increase right after exercise.

Those people that exercise have lower testosterone levels than those that don't. That sucks.

Not only that but "Endurance training can result in dysfunction in the reproductive system of humans."

How could this be possible?

Well your body goes: DAMN!! YOU EXERCISED! That means I need more muscle. That was some hard effor you put on me. Let me put on more muscle to make it easier to complete that task next time. So T-Levels go up.

When it's needed for the body to repair itself... your gonads still produce alot of T, but its being used up to repair and improve the muscle. And T-levels in the bloodstream go down cause its not accumulating any more.

Then go back up when the muscles are finished and starts accumulating.

Get it?

Dude, did you read the link?

Men who run regulary have low testosterone levels period, and are potentially going to have sexual side-effects.

TRhe resarch is from 1989, run a few more searches and fin out what the hypothesis led to. Don't ask redundant questions that can be solved by saying "they were wrong"

Alright man, cut the crap, tell me where it says that running/exercise doesn't lower the overall testosterone levels compared to a sedentary person.

Ah, ****, I read that whole thing just to find out it only says what has been theorized? It's like me saying girls like to be teased... "but it's only a theory"... than you going out and testing it on 20 girls and say "it worked, it's 100% true!"

Sedentary person, go through your notes and read what they classify a sedentary person as. It's just somebody who was at rest.

Four hours after the workouts, their total and free testosterone levels returned to normal levels...

Man, do you know where testosterone comes from? Do you know why it's produced? It's one of the many drugs that your body creates for itself to maintin balance and create healthy and efficient connections within the body.

Sounds to me like your an AFC to working out:)

heh, I'm still a little unsure, I wish there was more evidence as to exactly how exercise affects testosterone levels. I wonder where they got the lowered testosterone levels in those that do endurance training....I doubt that they were totally off/wrong, they did a whole study afterall.

If anyone has any other recent studies on this topic, please post the links.

A single study doesn't prove anything. Don't be like the news media with these studies by scaring people for no reason. It would also help to only quote recent studies; not 16 years old studies.

Red meat, whole eggs, high rep leg training (with weights): soaring test levels. I swear by it. :D

I haven't read the study because I don't believe in them. If YOUR test levels are reduced by running, don't run, simple as that.

one piece of advice I have for everyone out there: DO NOT READ STUDIES OR RESEARCH. They mean ****, and I mean ****.

they are often conducted in ideal, optimal circumstances using situations that do not pertain to the real world.

and yes, I put practical implementation and experience above research. science can and should be defied because it's purely theory.

case in point: 'studies' say that leg extensions recruit more muscle fibres than hack squats. however, which is going to give you bigger legs? see, they mean NOTHING.

in this case.. NewDude, go for a run in the morning or whenever you like. the night of the same day, get it on with your girlie. if you can't get an erection no matter what she does then apologise and say you'll make it up the next day. the next day, don't run. try to get it on again. if you get an erection .. WOOOOOOOOO. that's your study right there.

It's always fun to push you harder... I just hope you don't quit;)

That study is nearly 12 years old! Why you bringing up old studies still?

They are still confirming what you are saying is wrong. Start reading these things...

Here's what ADDMAN said
I hear testosterone levels fall if you burn out.

make sure you have adequate rest, diet and training times.
The researchers concluded that one year of solid training (which corresponded with increases in muscle strength of about 10 per cent), plus an occasional exposure to overreaching, had made the strength trainers' testicles more responsive to hard training
