It's funny what you wrote on the very thread about proper English...

- You know it's "immigrant" not "imigrant" right?

- You know it's "terrorist" not "terorist" right?

- You know it's "attacks" not "attacs" right?

- You know that it's "in the states" not "in states" right?

Hope you were just joking... But looking at the tone of your contribution, I'm not sure...

Maybe you are a FOB immigrant who doesn't master English properly and who blames the locals for his own shortcomings...
His post is what makes everyone believe that everyone in the Great White North are hosers. Grammar aside, he's believes that anything said about foreigners that isn't "loving" is some type of hatred. We only feel that way about Canadians (especially the ones that speak French, at least the European French know how to dress and drink things other than beer).

Yes I’m an immigrant, from balkans. I've been in Canada for 10 years now. It bothers me when people put down immigrant, for obvious reasons. However if I was in my old country I'd probably be putting down foreigners that come over there too.

Stick your head up your ass and look at it from my point of view :D . It's like and American, or Canadian moving to Russia, or Balkans, or china. Imagine culture shock. You think it's tough for you putting up with our bad English? IMAGINE MOVING TO INDIA and having to learn their language, their ways of life, and their values. That's the difference every Indian goes through when he moves here. Do you think you could write Chinese better, or speak it better then a home grown Chinese? PUT YOUR SELF IN OUR SHOES.

I love Canada, and it's then only citizenship I’ll ever have, however I’m glad I had the experience of living somewhere else - it makes the world a smaller and more familiar place......

Ok I don't want to turn this into a pissing contest, but just for the sake of argument...

I'm Chinese, born in China. I came to France at the (tender:D) age of 14. Now Chinese and French are both my mother tongues.

I learned English at school, in France where the teaching of English is not reputed to be good. Sure I spent two entire years in the States, but my English is still obvious better than yours.

I mean come on man, you've been living in Canada for ten years, ten fvcking years from age 13 to age 23, that's like an eternity. Yet you still have a somewhat broken English with bad spelling and neglecting the "the"s from time to time. I'm sorry but you really have NO excuse...:nono:

Sure, I will admit that I'm much smarter than the average person...

You know what, you were the only one that brought up putting down immigrants, that says a lot in itself. Just because you put down foreigners in your old country it doesn't mean that you can assume that people do the same thing. It may have been your cultural norm but you're in a different country now.

And by the way, I've lived in three countries so far and felt it was my duty to learn the native language and their customs. Even when on holiday in another country, I learn their language and customs, even if I'm only there for a few days.

I've found that with your generation the respect for the cultural values of others is quite lacking. Your anger shows it.

 It's not as if anyone is asking people to forgo their native language but come on, why not respect the culture and language of the country you choose to reside and learn to speak the language.

That reminds me of this American girl and a German girl (both exchange students in class).

So the German chick gets a call on her mobile, and she speaks in German. Then when she hangs up, the American goes, "What were you speaking?". The German girl replies, "German". To which the US citizen says (with absolute seriousness), "What? I thought everyone in Europe speaks French!"

And Americans wonder why Europeans typically look down their noses at us... One thing that can be said is that the typical American isn't worldly.

It's slang that changes everyday for example: "Popping my collar (to show off)", "Rollin' on 24's" (Riding on 24 inch rims)" "What's really good (what's going on)" Parking Lot Pimpin (Picking up women outside of a Club). I'm a lack Male from Alabama and we can use the English language through the slang i've posted above and understand it clearly.

But I lived in Alabama (Birmingham) and many of those nyggers can't communicate outside of people like them; I couldn't understand shyt of what they said.

Shouldn't the title read "Everyone should be forced to speak "correct" English" ?

I'm just being picky.....

At least in the UK you have the common sense to make English your national language. In my country, the Democrats refer to this notion as "offensive" and "racist", and do everything in their power to block such a decree. Scary, but true.
English is the national language of the English nation; the UK comprises the Scottish, Welsh and part of the Irish nations as well, and many members of these nations would prefer to consider Cymraeg, Gaidhlig, Lallans, Scotch or Gaeilge their national language. Language policy isn't "common sense", it's very politically charged anywhere you go.

Well I'm here to tell you there is such a magic wand. Something that will make you almost completely irresistible to any woman you "point it" at. Something guaranteed to fill your life with love, romance, and excitement.

In English speaking countries there are movements who consider the Queen's English (received pronunciation) the only correct form of English. They believe that all English speakers should speak this way.

I see a lot of guys like to talk Black American Vernacular English or "Gangsta" as it's less formally known, others talk casually or some groups like skaters use a lot of slang words. The sitcom Friends started a lot of expressions too.

I admit, I find white people talking "gangsta" pretty sad, but I do believe they should have the freedom to do so. But how would you feel if these ways of speaking were forbidden at school and you were only allowed to talk in "proper" English?

Why would you have a problem with it?

Also, to everyone who speaks "gangsta", could you tell me why?

Do you think there is any advantage to us all speaking the Queen's English?

I was involved in a class discussion today and wanted to get some more diverse opinions.
You sound like those women that want equality but still want to be treated special.

DO YOU WANT FREEDOM to speak whatever the hell you want? or a communism with "Proper English".

If you want to speak the "Queen's" English so damn much and are tired of Black Americans good, go to Britain or something.
