Don't know if it's been mentioned, but invite twice as many girls as you go guys. As a general rule guys will always show up, girls on the other hand flake out, overcompensate by inviting more of them.

Nothings worse than a sausage-fest. It'll be more fun and you'll avoid fights (get a bunch of guys drunk without enough women and it'll happen)

But seriously, just spend the money on booze and cheap snacks. Have a friend bring music, etc.
I'm glad you mentioned this, because I was just about to.

DEFINITELY invite more chicks than guys. Every party I've been to this year has been a huge sausage-fest. And those do suck: Here's some features of a bad party:

-15 guys in backwards hats leaning awkwardly against the wall clutching a beer and casting darting glances at the 4 attractive girls that bothered to show up. They always flock to parties in groups, trying to look/act cool when in reality they contribute nothing to the party and make things horribly stale. Many of them will be absent-mindedly playing with their phones but there is really nothing happening there.
-A couple of loud obnoxious fugly chicks who not only are eating all the food, but hogging alcohol. They usually have a couple dudes hanging around them for some reason (maybe because sometimes they're somewhat entertaining), but in general no one really likes these chicks.
-A few crazy guys who are super drunk that are being crazy with the few attractive girls there. Occasionally one of them gets lucky, but more often than not they're too wasted to be able to function long enough to actually relocate the chick to somewhere private.

Eventually what happens is the attractive girls will band up and leave, often closely pursued by a host of orbiting lame dudes who come up with an excuse to follow the scent.

My buddy and I (both of us are on this forum) are throwing a party in a few weeks at our place. We have a main living area & a lower level, and we're working on getting some laser lights, fog, keg, and loud music going on.

We probably want to spend a little less than $1000 on all the stuff we'll need. A rack/stand for 1-2 lights might cost $80 each (x2). A laser light might cost $100 (x2-x3). Fox machine $50+ (x2). Plus we'll probably be reusing some of this stuff for future parties.

Does anybody know what are some good things to look into when shopping for this stuff?
Are some laser/strobe lights are sound-sensitive, so they go along with the beat. What is the name of that technology?
We probably don't want to get one of those crazy D.J. controller boards, that's probably too much for what we need.

Thanks for any tips!
Make an event invitation on facebook or sumthin, My cousin and me did this when he had a 40 person bus. thanksgivin eve(with a stripper pole muaahaa, worked out well)Plus we charged each person 50 bucks for the bus + VIP n drinks.. You figure if so and sos friend sees an update saying her friend is attending this "event". It gets the ball rolling real quick..Hell even charge each person say like 5 bucks or something to get in to cover some of your costs.

Beer pong is always cool. Yeah make sure you have adequate a-a-l-c-h-o-l. Great dance music ( I like pit bull/reggaeton gets most girls movin!) Hire a little midget entertainer to for something unique lmao...j/k on the last one but would be hilarious ha...couple days after ....Girl: Man what a crazy party professional_spartan had! Guy: Oh really? Girl: We got drunk as hell, danced all night and There was even a damn midget!
