End of human civilization in 2012??

I'm not hijacking or making this thread political, so I'm just gonna state what I read and be subjective.

China is building up their military, both Navy (more carrier ships+subs), Army (manpower to hold lands), Airforce, missles (By 2010 they will have 450 warheads) and Defense (Their underground bunkers are suppose to be nuclear bomb proof). They've been increasing their budget spending to pay for their "modernized" army. The two reasons China would be making their new army is 1) Having a larger influence in the world scene like the US in international politics 2) Invade other countries like Taiwan. The scary part is I read that the Chinese minister of defense stated that by 2008-2015 China will be taking back Taiwan and if U.S. interfere with the opperations, they made it clear that they will use warheads/nukes. I'm pretty sure that will start a WWIII, because North Korea and Russia seemed to be allied with China. Also judging from the current state of the Middle East and their hatred to US and Isreal, the conflict will expand and there will be Allied/Axis formed again.

So I'm guessing by 2015-2020 the global conflict will spread to other countries and the world will be in a WWIII, if that happens nuclear holocaust is unavoidable.

I LIKE TO INSIST THIS IS NOT POLITICAL it is purely current events, I'm deliberately not taking sides because I don't want it closed. Just like to share it with ppl and educate them that there are more important matters to worry than global warming and earthquakes.

I agree. China is becoming a big threat to America. Top military commanders are recognizing this too, this isnt just theory, this is fact.

Just as Bush is helping to buildup a nuclear Defense system, China is trying to develop a way to beat it. I beleive China is developing something called MIRVs, which are special ICBMs that will bombard the US's missile defense system to where its a gurantee some nuclear warheads will get through and strike their target. China is also spying on the united states and stealing military technology secrets much in the same way the soviets stole our atom bomb secrets and developed their own nuclear bomb. And youre right, china does want to dominate asia and take back taiwan.

But on the bright side, china isnt doing all that well. I read that they failed a major Naval exercise that was supposed to test their readyness and ability to fight off an invading enemy naval fleet. This was due to the fact that their navy is inexperienced.

But if you think about it, china would have to be crazy to actually try and use nukes against us. They know that we will just retaliate in kind. ITs suicide, and nethier side ever wins in nuclear war. Everybody loses. This is the main reason the Cold war never actually led to full scale nuclear war. Though I could see the use of small scale nuclear bombs, to hit "small targets" and maybe take out naval fleets, nothing devasting though. Nothing you couldnt already do with a non-nuclear conventional bomb.

The only real threat of nuclear war is if Korea, Iran or a smaller country starts it. I can see things coming to blows between Iran and Israel before too much longer. Iran is developing nuclear weapons to intimidate Israel...and before too much longer I strongly suspect that Israel is going to bomb Iran's facilities for that development to try to wipe out any future threats. That's going to set off more problems in the Middle East and of course, we will back Israel as we always do and then all hell will break loose.

I believe that the world will end as soon as this thread is closed on account of getting too political too quickly (9/11 references, US international politics, foreign power's nuclear capabilities, WWIII). If the world does end when the thread is closed, it ends. If it ends in 2012, it ends. It wasn't too long ago that people firmly believed the end of civilization would occur when 1999 changed into 2000... As for the poles reversing, please look up "true north" and "magnetic north". Any educated person already knows that these two are slowly becoming further and further apart. If you want to discuss pole migration that can best be served with a new thread not involving political matters. Thanks for your understanding.
