In the past, we had Charlie Sheen in great films like Wall Street and Red Dawn. Up until recently, we had him in shows like Two and Half Men <eye roll>.

I cancelled my cable television 5 years ago and don't miss it. Deregulation promised us more competition and lower rates. Cable tv bills went from $30 to upwards of $100+ a month. Plus the quality of programming got worse.
Yeah well I have cable for the sports. Actually there is some gems on the MGM channel which play all the old MGM classics.

And how could I miss Charles Bronson out of my initial list.

This movie is doing the rounds on our version of cable TV over here in New Zealand.

I have avoided it because it contains the word "love", and it stars Julia Roberts - who makes me want to puke. I hate that bytch with a passion.

I have no doubt its some sh!t femcuunt movie. I am so sick of these type of movies and the "I love you man" fvcking crap type of shyt that gets made these days.

Actually I hate fvcking hollywood and the fags that run it.
Even the Hangover still had its AFC moments.

Bring back the 80's and Arnie, Sly, Bruce.

Just felt like having a rant.

I mad.
Haha, I hear ya man and I agree with everything you said. Seen that eat pray queef doing the rounds aswell and this overrated horse headed kunt, spare me.

Don't know about Jake G., but Leo was a total badass in Blood Diamond. I happen to think that he's a pretty good actor if he can go from romantic chump (Titanic) to Blood Diamond and be believable in both.
I don't think he's a bad actor. But he's such a boy. The point was just that the movie heroes in the 80's were real men. Today we get these effeminate and wussy young guys. And for some reason even a pumped up and ripped Di Caprio, Pitt or Gylenhaal doesn't have the same great vibe and presence that Arnie, Sly or Bruce had. Come on, how satisfying was it to hear Arnie, puffing on a cigar, say 'Nice of you to drop by', before throwing some bad guy off a 40-storey building?!!

Yeah you got a point here. These guys were pretty boys to begin with and try to be taken more seriously by lifting some weights, where Arnold started with the weights... BIG weigths.
Still, I wouldn't say DiCaprio or Gylenhaal are "wusses" per se, or else, 90% of us would be wusses (maybe it's true...) They are just normal present day guys.

Oh yeah, they're not wussies compared to normal guys, just compared to Arnie, Sly, etc. I know the likes of Gylenhaal, Pitt, etc have pumped themselves up for films (Prince of Persia, Troy, etc) but they started off as very normal guys. Arnie, as you say, was big before he started doing movies.

It's not just that, I think Arnie, Bruce, etc just have this presence that the leading men today don't. Leo, Jake, Josh, etc just look like boys. Even their names are gay!

lol. Probably Statham and Jackman come closest nowadays, but even they seem to be a little fake sometimes.

I always thought of Jackman as more of a pretty boy. Again I know he got pumped up for X-men.

Statham is ok I suppose. He's definitely a 'man' not a boy. But he's a bit C-list, lol. Poor guy. Plays the same character in every film.

Statham was good in the 'Transporter' films.

To those who have cited The A-Team as a good example of no-nonsense men of action on tv back in the '80s: good call.

The '80s era really was the last bastion of unabashed, unapologetic manliness in Hollywood.

Every now and then I mention to my wife how I wish Hollywood would introduce to us a new generation of actors in the natural spirit and no-nonsense manitude of classic cats like McQueen, Bronson, Eastwood, Stallone, Willis, etc.. One of maybe 2-3 guys to show that kind of promise these days is The Rock.

I always thought James Arness from "Gunsmoke" was one of the biggest badasses on tv.

Instead, today we get chumps like Paul Rudd, Seth Rogen, and Matthew Perry. I do not envy boys who are growing up in this day and age.

Paul Rudd in particular really gets to me. He either plays yuppie AFC types or manchild/slacker types.

In films yes, but in TV it was absouluty awful:
"Cosby Show" ,"Family Ties", "Newhart" ,"St. Elsewhere", even "Love Connection"
were dominated by feminine, castrated, sensitive guys who skirted around strong, smart ,dominant ,career women

What goes around, comes around. You're not going to keep men down for too long. The fun starts now, as we rebound and the feminarchy fights to keep us down and retain the status quo.

The woman who traveled around the world for "eat pray love" was financed entirely by her book publisher. Then she tried to spin her story as if was some spontaneous "I just want to live my life" nonsense and it worked on a clueless public. There's a very good lesson here boys... read between the lines
