Does going out with friends (15 years +) and getting drunk hinder self inprovement ?

This happens probably two times a month and I feel like it sets me back to some extent. Mostly in my workout routine.

The thing is that we always have insane fun and get the best nights out together. And i don't want to lose them becausebwe have been friends since we have been 3 years old.

How old are you buddy?
This is only my opinion so take it with a grain of salt:

Going out and getting drunk should stop sometime in your late 20's (not including NYE, travel, etc). I can't pinpoint an exact time, but it just feels like you turn a corner from being those fun loving guys to those older guys that everyone wonders wtf is wrong with. When I was 29 I just stopped cold for a year. Not a drop of booze, but still went out with friends. Man, being the sober one and just observing, there was a huge difference between the appearance of late 20's dudes being drunk and early 20's dudes.

On top of that, hangovers get worse and take away more time from self development. Google alcohol's effects on fitness too.

YMMV - but I think there is a lot to be said for social drinking, just not getting krunk.

No. You're fine. You're young. Have as much fun as you can. 2 times a month isn't going to make much of a difference. Plan your cheat days around when you're going out. Don't give up fun for improvement sake.

Don't forget why you pursue improvement, to be the best you possibly can be and elevate your life experiences. Time with friends is apart of that. Enjoy it while it lasts. There's people on this forum who would kill for friends to go out with once a month, let alone twice, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
