Do you lose any nutrients (i.e. protein) by doing this? I know you can rinse it with water in a strainer and collect it, let the fat rise, and reuse water as beef broth to collect some nutrients (my mother used to does this) but that is extra work and I am wondering if anyone knows how much is lost if you dont do this. For example, if you just drain fat from frying pan without rinsing (so there is still some fat) how much protein do you lose?

Thanks.

Sure. If i drain fat i see little chunks of solid meat going with it. Not enough to worry about, though.

I barely drain it anyway. I don't see the point. I just rinse off the obvious stuff off the top.
