I don't think IMs are that horrible to use. I agree they aren't as good as a face to face conversation but they can serve as a good stepping stone for those who are just starting off with all this stuff and need serious work on their conversation skills. IMs give you the chance to think about what you say before you say it also which is a big plus especially if you're rusty with conversation.
You're absolutely right. However, the purpose of this website is to teach you how to get women. So within the context of what this whole forum is about, your argument is irrelevant. Talking on-line is absolutely fine as long as you aren't expecting anything to happen between you and a girl beyond being chat buddies. Problem is, that's often the reason why many people do it, and that's what this thread is warning against.

They have a version of this tread in the Don Juan section and one person said that he never gives out or askes for screen names David DeAngelo has a tip that says ask a girl for her email and then as shes writing that tell her to write down her number.
I did this before I had read David's tip with screennames and it always works extremely well. give the girl a slip of paper and your pen and tell her to write down her screenname and as shes writing that say "and your number too" its never failed me and some of those girls I've never even added to my buddy or friends list.

i have had nothing but good luck with AIM. but i think im using it a tad differently then some people here.
im use it for the sole purpose to get some contact going between me and the girl. once we have contact..then i can talk to her in school use all the kino and crap that i need..then when i go home i can "see" her on AIM and talk about all that other crap that gets you the connection. works flawlessly
now this doesnt mean i never use phone..but you can ask a friend for a girls screen name, message her, and not seem like a total wierdo when she asks you how you got her name..unlike a girls #. which i always thought was lame to call somone inless you got the # your own damn self

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

I agree, that thread is stupid. Who ever told you that you had to use AIM to get chicks? How about talking with your friends/family? It's more of a convience than the telephone, that's for sure....and it's free.

I agree, MEETING people on the internet is gay, but if you just chat with friends every now and then it is not "wrong" or "AFC".
My experience has been that I attracted two chicks, only talking to them on the internet, and only with minor flirting at school. Now, to say that EVERY girl will befriend you if you talk to her over the internet is lame. Everyone's experience is a little different, which is why it is bull**** to dictate to people to "NOT TALK TO GIRLS WITH MSN/AIM MESSENGER".
Now in today's world, PEOPLE USE COMPUTERS. To say that you need a life and to get out and see people and not log on a computer at all is stupid. If you see every girl as a piece of ass, which you either can, can't, or don't want to **** her, then go kino every ***** you see. No one is stopping you.
I'm not sure what it's like in Australia, but here people spend (especially High Schoolers) a lot of time at home. And in today's world computers are a source of entertainment, information, and communication. So why not use that source; you are saying "because you can't kino the girl".

I'd rather use AIM than a phone simply because I can't stand talking on the phone for very long with very many people and on AIM or computer, I can do a bunch of different things at once rather than focus everything on the person you're talking to..ex: you can be chatting with whoever, while looking at the Slayerized, Superjoint Ritual, Down, Don Juan, Hank III, Above Top Secret forums, looking at porn, sell sh*t on Ebay, do my research paper and many other things all in one f*cking device!!

No way. I don't like using AIM unless I have to. My old girlfriend use to really do it a lot. She met a guy in arizona and fell in love with him. She never met him, only talked on the phone. She had this whole soul mate thing going on with him. Infact, she went out with him or made a comittiment to be his girlfriend. The dude weighed close to 280 pounds, no joke. And this pretty girl who weighed 105 pounds thought he was the one. Then, she met me. And fell in love with the real thing. I think its so stupid that she thought she was in love. She never touched him, saw him, and yet she was obsessed with him. I think working in the real world with woman is so much better then using AIM. I say, only use it when you need to. Plus I think that most girls who use AIM and fall in love with people far away are kindof freaky and not very outgoing. Which in my experience is true. I mean, what sensibility is it to buy a plane ticket to spend sometime with a complete stranger. I mean, it would be hard to connect the AIM dream person with the real thing.

I disagree to the fullest. If you want to get a girl online, it IS possible to apply the DJ mentality. ****y and funny can be taken to another level, and girls are usually more open online.
I usually use MSN, and I get digits and dates all the time through it. My last relationship sprouted from an MSN meeting (my friend had his girlfriend's email and password, so he went in her account and gave me a $hitload of chick's emails, the first one I tried became my gf). Also, there are dozens of girls whom I got the number of just by simply putting the game on, MSN-style.
Online messenging programs also helped me develop my conversational skills, but most importantly, my sense of humor. My sense of humor is kind of wacky, and I always say stuff that is out of context, but to an extent, in a funny way. I don't keep the conversation to a simple "Oh, you went to hawaii? How was surfing? Did you like it? How did you feel?". You need to talk about yourself sometimes and agree with what she says, and put a lot of humor into it.
Another thing I've noticed is that pickups by chatting work on girls like a charm until they turn about 17, then you have to make a bit more efforts to show her that you're really worth it. Your personality has to shine, not only your eyes... Also, if you're really attractive, sending a pic works really good too, if you mix it with some game)
But there should be something about this in the bible, because to get girls online, you need to adopt another similar mentality. A lot of things are the same, like seeming busy, teasing her a lot, etc., but there's other things you need to apply, like being more open about sex, since you're communicating through a third-party device that gives you more time to think about what you're saying, plus it relieves the stress of the voice pitch, eye contact. And you don't always have to dress-up while being on MSN, only when you've gotten the number and got a date set-up that you have to go through the physical change.
In my age-group, so many of my friends have gotten girls online, gotten laid, and are meeting new ones each day. By "getting girls" I don't mean cyber-sexing or having them fall in love with you online. I mean getting her number, calling her up, organising something, then ****ing her.

Meeting girls from AIM has been a bad deal in my experience.
Here's a problem I had. It actually is what led me to this site. Some girl starts talking to me online. I get the number and call her. A little later we schedule a time and place to meet. The problem was that since I don't have a digital camera she didn't know what I looked like.
Here's where my problem came in: if a girl is interested I can really talk to her right. The problem was that she had an extremely high IL. . . until she saw me.
Aparrently she found some hiding place near where we were supposed to meet, took one look at me, and went home. Naturally I was really AFC about the whole deal and kept calling her blah blah blah.
The moral of the story is pretty obvious.
One last thing, the biggest advantage to girls who are trying to meet guys online is that they WANT to like you. That's a huge advantage. You don't have to do nearly as much work. All you have to do is not mess it up.
