Anchoring certain gestures to positive emotion is done by doing a certain gesture whenever you feel an emotion you'd like to feel.

I do admit it kinda works, but we usually need our 'boost' when we're feeling down, no?

So when we keep summoning our best emotions when we're feeling down, wouldn't our anchor slowly associate to the negative feelings? I don't know, just a thought.

Are you anchoring the most effective things? There are tons of positive emotions; for example watching the opening credits to Spiderman-3 on it's opening weekend. A month later how do you feel about it?

You can't expect to anchor just any positive emotion. Get a real book about NLP and not just rely on Internet posts. It'll teach you the proper way to anchor experiences, even if they had never happened.

You've got to be leary about anything that isn't "looks" based.
