If someone (woman) seems to flirt with you and you give her a kick ass demo, do you think it will help your chances

It would be much better if you were playing the instrument live. Even more mackadelic would be if you could give her lessons...great excuse for some kino!

Read the damn DJ bible before asking sh•t like this.

If she's flirting with you, you ALREADY HAD YOUR CHANCE.

Just get her damn number or better yet go out with her right there on the spot right after the gig, or whatever... just DO SOMETHING on the spot, and stop trying to impress her with your "kick-ass demo."

Impress her by being a "kick-ass" person.

And read the damn DJ bible.

Good luck with other babes, cause you blew this one. Take advantage of this opportunity... the next time it happens. So now you know.

Swallow it, live with it, move on.

No, musicians never get any women. Neither do actors, athletes, or models.

Try working on the railroad.

ha..ha..ha....All the women I used to work with and went to school with would give their virginity to a musician.

Have you ever seen those guys in school who can sing to all those girls while playing their guitar?

'Nuff said.

The reason it is commenly accepted that females are intrigued/attracted to musicians is because they are in touch (or atleast perceived as being) with there emotions.

Females by definition run there lives by there emotions wheather justified/grounded or whatever. Therefore a man viewed as being "in-touch" will become a prefered target.

Going by these facts, use your ability to your advantage, and most of all be modest about it. Dont walk around her like Jimmy Hendrix giving off the impression that your talents have made you conceded.

LoneRanger,

I think you have a point, but I have read that competence is a big turn-on, too.
Any male displaying real skill or talent is a draw to women.

No. Musicians do not get women. If you want to get women, put down the guitar and release a pop record that includes none of your own lyrics, music, or voice. You'll come off as a non-threatening pinup guy and you'll be vacating the spot in your band to someone who wants to make music for the sake of making music.

Why do you think musicians, painters, sculptors and artists or people with passion alike get the women? Because those people have self identity, they have truth... They perfect their craft!

They live their life to its fullest, a life of creation and expression: that my friend is whats so appealing. The passion and fire that burns inside us :)

Perfect your craft what ever it may be artistic or not, everyone must have a hobby, a driving force, a passion!. be that passion realise it and the rest will follow.

Whenever im at parties or wherever, me and my buddies ALWAYS freestyle. Considering everyone i know sucks and they just bust out nursery rhymes i always impress the chicks, and everyone basically with my skill.

I use my cleverness and quick freestyling ability to make them look like fools and get everyone to laugh, which is pretty easy when everyone is excited and drunk.

This definetly gets me points, alot of prep chicks usually see something like this as ghetto but when they see me put on a show their panties get moist.

So you think it's the guitar that gets these guys laid?

Or the fact that they can stand in front of a room full of women and distribute good/powerful feelings for all to share, where most guys can't even talk to a girl one on one??

For every musician who pulls chicks left and right, there's a misanthrope somewhere with a guitar with equal talent, but no stage presence or self-confidence.

musicians, artists, etc etc etc get chics all the time.

BUT

---------
Why do you think musicians, painters, sculptors and artists or people with passion alike get the women? Because those people have self identity, they have truth... They perfect their craft!
---------------

that's not the real reason. Have you ever known most real artists.

Most artists are what's known as STARVING and STRUGGLING. Be it a painter, photographer, writer, musician, etc etc etc, most of them can't afford to pay their rent, yet alone, do anything else.

Yes, many do make it, but many more don't. I really can't explain it, but go to any bar or club with live bands(cover or original) and girls are all into them, even if it's some noname local act.

But they are far from reality. Most great artists can't even cope with reality. Look at history, most of our greatist artists were drug addicts or alcoholics, and on and on.

They don't have the truth, yeah maybe they start out searching for it, but talk to any STARVING artist who is older then 30, and you get a sense, they are just as lost as the rest of us.

hey i give some of them credit for sticking with something for so long, but i don't give them credit for treating everybody else like crap just because they can't pay their rent this month. It's nobody elses fault but their own.

SO as for music and painting and all that, go out and do it, make it a hobby, make it a living, but don't become one of those hate filled artists who blame the world cause you are poor.

As stated by many, most of the greatest artists in the history of mankind, had a few screws loose.

If I was up your ass you'd know
My buddy is a band, and he has the most steady pvssy of any guy I know. Every time he shows up at my house, its with a different chic, and in high school before this kid was in a band, he got virtually no pvssy. He tells me its all because he is in a band, he was even thinking of quiting his band but told me he can't quit the pvssy!

Well I was referring to a true artist in sense, one with drive that can behold the glory and beauty of life, maybe I should have stated that clearer... :) I'm an arist women dig that, its about passion change, freedom... all of those wonderful qualities.

No one likes a down individual who does nothing but whine and complain about how pathetic his existence has become.

Look, it's even in the news!!

Area Bassist Fellated

COLUMBUS, OH—According to reports, area musician Paul Simms, bass player for the local grunge/punk band The Dead Taybacks, was fellated early Sunday morning by an unknown woman. The fellatio, which occurred during a late-night party following a Dead Taybacks show at the Tar Pit in downtown Columbus, was described as "totally rockin'" by Simms, who formerly played bass for Claw Jockey.

Area bassist Paul Simms recently enjoyed oral sex. He attributed the fortuitous encounter to his status as a "rock" musician, which creates a tremendous sexual energy that makes him irresistible to "chicks."
A part-time college student who is currently looking for a place to stay, Simms was unable to identify his fellater, as he passed out shortly thereafter. Nonetheless, he remains optimistic about future occurrences of fellatio in his life, and credits his status as a band member for his fellatio success.

"The whole rock thing—the hair, the ripped clothes, the total disillusionment with the overwhelming, crushing commercialism of modern American life," said Simms, flipping his long, tousled locks out of his eyes with a flip of his hand. "Chicks dig it."

According to witnesses, the fellatio occurred in the alley behind the Tar Pit. At approximately 3:52 a.m., the unknown fellatist unbuckled the belt and lowered the trousers worn by Simms and proceeded to lick, stroke and suck his exposed penis.

"It was awesome," commented Simms. "But don't get the wrong idea here. Fellatio isn't what it's all about. For me, the most important thing is still the music. The beer, the parties and the anonymous random orally induced orgasms are just a tiny part of it."

According to Simms, The Dead Taybacks will soon embark on a five-day tour of southern Ohio, during which he believes he has an excellent chance of receiving additional fellatio.

"I hear we're really big in the Oberlin area," Simms said. "My sister's friend Steve goes to school down there, and she said he thinks he's heard of us."

The Dead Taybacks' first out-of-town date is May 4, when the band will play before an expected 70 people at a Dayton, OH, Knights of Columbus hall.

In addition to the upcoming tour, Simms is hopeful The Dead Taybacks upcoming six-song cassette will also help him land enjoyable oral sex.

"Yeah, we're gonna do a new tape, which will include some songs from our seven-inch EP," Simms said. "A friend of ours borrowed a cassette four-track, so it will be pretty good quality. We'll shop it around, and maybe a local label will pick it up. If not, this record store downtown might sell it on consignment for us. That would be awesome."

Simms said the band has saved "over $75" to record the new cassette, including $11 from a recent show at the Drift-On-Inn Bar and Grill.

"We got paid $40 for that gig," Dead Taybacks drummer and part-time Video Zone clerk Jim Klapisch explained. "But most of that money went toward paying for the flyers."

Band members nevertheless maintain that the money, like the sex, is just a small part of what keeps them going.

"When we get into a van to go to a gig, we rarely talk about how much money we'll pocket or how many babes will be in the audience," Simms said. "After the show, however, that's pretty much all we talk about."

According to sources close to the band, Sunday was no exception, as Simms told bandmates everything he could remember about the previous night's sexual escapade.

Simms also suddenly put off plans to quit the band, though he maintains that his recent sexual encounter had nothing to do with his sudden change of heart.

Experts were not surprised that Simms was the recipient of such a bold sexual favor, one that is not traditionally a casual exchange between partners.

"Being a member of a rock band is very alluring from a sexual standpoint," said Yale University's Nora Hayes, one of the nation's leading authorities on college-area band-related sexual activity. "Men and women in bands are considered 'cool' by their peers, and that, when combined with a visceral, sweaty performance on the part of the musician, makes them very attractive from a mating standpoint."

"That stuff used to happen to me all the time," said Gary Thortle, 29, who played keyboards for Penthouse Sweet while a student at Ohio State. Thortle has since graduated and is now temping for a Columbus-area QualiTemps. "God, I miss those days."

Added former Zen Monkey guitarist and lead singer Ronald Gick: "God, I miss those days."

The Associated Press and New York Times wire service reports were used when compiling this story.
