Dann: There are definitely a lot of women who keep an eye on the man’s wallet. That’s why you see some women perk up when a man says he’s a doctor or a lawyer. And if he’s a hot doctor or lawyer, forget about it!
Money's Important.

Haley: It’s not that I couldn’t fall in love with someone who made less money than I do, but it would be difficult. I want to settle down with someone who can take care of me and support a family.
Money's important.

Rebecca: Money has never been a consideration for me. Can someone make me happy, make me laugh, and carry on an intellectually stimulating conversation? I think about those things first and money much, much later.
Money's important. Just "make you happy?" Is that all? I wonder how much that costs.

In other cases, women don’t mind earning more money, but think the men they’re with would feel diminished by that.
Oh, so that's why you won't date men who earn less than you? Because you wouldn't want to hurt his feelings???

Haley: My current boyfriend pays for everything and I think I make more than he does, but I like it that way because it feels romantic, caring and chivalrous.
Oh my...

Liz Kelly: It’s the romance and chivalry that women want — not the free meal.
Well apparently they go hand in hand for Haley, and I bet they do for you too. Oh, here comes Liz again:

Career women are happy to pick up the tab when dating someone seriously, but in the early stages of dating, the guy should get the tab. It sets the stage for building a stronger relationship.
I've never read such a hypocritical statement in my life.

This "article" is total drivel.

Other factors are important too. But money does matter.

This is an other demostration that the liberated woman is just the same old woman who excect the same things but wants to put less than past.
We are still expected to put the money while she doesn't have anymore to stay at home or be in shape.

Anyway we don't have the right to complain because it's the same that most of us do,getting sex while giving nothing in return later in a relationship.
I'm talking about the fvck and dump crew obviously.

Oh yah. it does...but it only matters when it comes to long term dating. I have had women who have expressly said they would never date a guy who makes less than X, still sleep with me when they knew I made less than X. It's just like with women, some you will sleep with some you marry, for a woman the ones you marry better have resources.

I agree that it only matters for long term relationships.

Not being fiscally sound can be a dealbreaker in the long run. But...so can not wanting to get married.

I wouldn't worry excessively about money, because there will ALWAYS be someone richer than you. I'd worry about developing a compelling personality that women respond to, because that's what's going to get you through rough patches. You should, however, be able to support yourself comfortably.

To answer the question, try this experiment, subjectively.

1. Go to Wal Mart and check out the women

2. Go to a high end mall in your city (i.e. where there is a Coach store, a Neiman Marcus) and check out the women.

3. Do a compare and judge for yourself.

As long as you make more than she does you'll be fine. Women subconsciously pay attention to that, whether they want to or not, so it gradually becomes an issue in LTR's.

A universe...where heartbreak and sadness have bee
How does money work? It's exchanged for goods and services. Meaning that you provide something of value to someone else, then they provide you with currency as compensation.

If you're not making that much money, how much VALUE are you really providing to the world?
