Do you think college men join fraternities to get better access to poontang?

It's the like fraternity system is self-sustaining because men join it to be able to better socialize with the sorority coeds - and are willing to go through this abuse to get the golden vajaya.

Too many frat stories like this lately. It’s like some of todays young men have no common sense.
That said, it’s an excellent chance to bond with other young men and network throughout your life though.
The sorority thing is a great add on also. Big kegger all greek happy hours every Friday and single frat/sorority parties as well as the big ones. A great way to get friend setups, meet, and date many girls…
They don’t all put out, but a very large percentage do.

NETWORKING!!!!!! it is the end all. A lot of kids set up mixers, go to social events, all of that for easier access to better jobs. Who you know is more important than what you know most of the time.

F that...I'm not paying a crap load of money so I can buy friends.They tried to recruit me after freshman year and every year there after because my sport teams kicked their asses routinely and they wanted me to play with them. I laughed and told them to kick rocks...it was too much fun kicking their asses and watch them cry like the punks they were

Of course some of them do but most join because they genuinely like the people there. I joined a fraternity with much less access to sororities than other fraternities (because of their housing situation) because the guys there seemed cooler. It is an awesome network and many of those guys continue to be my closest friends.

The pledge process was fun, tons of drinking games and athletic events. Occasionally we had to do something embarrassing (like walk up to a girl and say something stupid) but we ultimately thought it was funny. My rule going into it was, no violence and no gay stuff. Anyone who subjects themselves to that is weak willed.

@marmel75: you're not paying for friends, you're pooling your money together to throw events that you attend. Basically you're paying for the semester's alcohol.

Yes, it does help guys get girls, but not exactly as understood. I was a pledge class president for a few months a long time ago. I eventually quit, because I was living with an older girl off campus and getting laid all I wanted, which made frat games seem silly. I saw a lot of hazing from an inside perspective. A lot of it is actually about trying to make dorky, nerdy suburban kids who have never done anything with their lives into something resembling an adult. The frat president at one point told me, "we can tell you don't need it, so we go light on you. But look at those fvcking nerds over there who are the rest of your pledge class. They need all the help they can get."
