Do you think advertisers no longer want to show beautiful people, and now want to show fat women?

I was looking at this pic at my bank's website, and it got me thinking:

fat chick bank ad.png

my opinion: The man seems to be in good shape, even Chad-tier, while the woman is rather small breasted even as a beach ball.

They’ll never advertise a short man dating a taller woman though

This isn't an advertiser issue. This is a banker issue. Bankers want the world to burn, and they conceptualized and approved this ad. It's easier to get down to 500 million people worldwide if no one wants to phuck/reproduce.

These two have matching breast. “This is love” As in, love your lack of self control. I remember back in the 80’s they had festivals to raise money to feed the hungry. Fast forward 30+ years and now we have obese models trying to sell what used to be upscale underwear. At first glance I thought that was Drake, lol. Drake if he ate donuts everyday. Or is that a chic with a beard, not sure? The chic below covered in tats screams, “I have internal damage.” None of this makes me want to go buy Calvin Klein. Retailers and advertisers need to keep working to earn our money. These are samples of our society today. No wonder Calvin Klein prices are so high, they need to use more raw materials for their products today. The bank is trying to appeal to regular customers. Surprised they didn’t show a gay couple, since apparently everyone is gay now.

Standards only exist for women. You, too, can be a fat whale and still get a fit guy.

So much for the concept in Marketing 101... "Sex Sells".
It still does. If anything, the person with the right idea and funding can steal the market share that all the companies gave up.

The only obstacle is the fact that all the investors holding funding to create competition are supporting this mess. So it is difficult to find a non-political investor who will care to go after said market share cause they tend to keep to their neck of the woods. This is the only reason they have a "monopoly" atm.

Advertising is no longer aspirational, marketers are now pandering to people that actually look this way. Advertising will always go where the top dollar is. Make people feel good about themselves and they will buy your products.

I work at the largest county hospital in a very large metropolitan area on the western coast of the United States. You might be amazed, but 95% of my patients are obese, not 10lbs overweight - 40-50 and more. It’s eye opening.

More and more patient rooms have CRANES hanging from the ceilings to facilitate the movement of these land whales, because even 3-4 healthy strong staff members struggle just to roll them on their sides.

There are specialized beds now that can handle these heavier patients now, I cannot tell you the number of times I’ve gone to lift a persons bed or angle it for a procedure and the motors simply die.

The adverts above are the reality of what our population looks like today.

For a while the adverts were anti-aspirational (ex, more gay people in ads than in real life, more minorities, etc, less masculine men)

Yikes! Back in the day, California was known for fit people who exercised and ate well. Women in leg warmers doing jazzercise and men in the gyms pumping iron. Now we have more pot dispensaries than gyms. The societal bar seems very low these days, don’t want to ”offend” anyone by suggesting their outcome reflects their effort. Advertisers just have to adjust to the market and tread lightly or they‘ll end up with a Bud Lite situation.
