Gators are gonna eat us alive, I hate to say it. On a different note, I went to Auburn last night for a rock show to see some of my friends play and had a blast. Met some cute little 19 and 20 year olds who all guessed my age at 26. LOL made my day. They were way to young for me to chase seriously though. Also they kinda got pissed at me responding to the various cries of "ROLL TIDE". To all these guys in college complaing, WTF man! It's so easy an old dog like me could still do it! You guys aren't even trying!
I ROTFL'd!!!

I never would've guessed that you were from Alabama. The Tide is just the underdogs in this game.

You have got to be f_cking kidding me. How about you decide whether to wear a jersey or not by -SHOCKER- deciding whether YOU want to wear a jersey. The fact that people who would ask a question like this ever get laid at all is astounding to me...

A wide variety of opinion here (and I do agree that there's over-analysis in the OP's questions) and my post is not meant to downgrade others' opinions personally (i.e., not attaching any specific person here)....

So, here's my opinion on the issue:

I wouldn't be caught dead in another man's jersey or even a sports jersey (and I'm a sports fan).

A few reasons: (1) It appears more as hero worship given that it's an outward display. "Respect" for athletes is fine (there's many I respect) but walking around with another man's jersey seems to... (2) be an attempt to raise one's own social value by attaching it to the accomplishments and status of others.

I don't see either of these things as a step toward positive masculinity; to me, it is the male equivalent of women idolizing the Sex and the City girls.

My two-cents and over-analysis.

Not likely to be popular with some posters here, so let me have it. Such is life...

Never try to read a woman's mind. It is a scary place. Ignore her confusing signals and mixed messages. Assume she is interested in you and act accordingly.

I agree with you.

At first look, you are automatically putting yourself beneath these sports figures.
If you're at a game or in a sports bar on a sunday supporting your favorite team, then fine. Otherwise I 100% agree with comment above, and good question OP, I've actually thought of that before. When I was younger it was more okay, but now that I'm older, it would seem strange to me to wear another man's jersey.

This is an old thread. Pretty sure the whole wearing another guy's jersey thing is now considered by most to be kind of lame if not totally AFC.

You are not Lebron James, wearing his jersey doesn't change that fact. I personally find people who wear shirts detailing their own accomplishments to be far more interesting.

I have a sh!tload of firefighting tshirts from crews I've worked with, competitions and such. I also have shirts from festivals that my (old) band played in. Celebrate YOU!

PS, I do have several band tshirts. So I guess I am AFC sometimes...

Bread and circuses for the beta masses to quench mens thirst of standing against current social injustices. A shiny object if you will. Misdirected passion and drive outlet for the manboobs.

Not to mention wearing another mans name on you screams weakness.

Oh yeah and this is coming from someone who's thrown a tv out the window at finals time and has signed Jersey's.

What a fvckin joke. Rally behind a team that's important zombies.

wow. Just the fact that you made a thread about this to ask such a ridiculous question saddens me. People need to stop being so fvcking paranoid about "ohh no i cant do that its afc! Oh no is this afc? Omg guys thats so afc!"....idiots
This. The AFC / Alpha **** needs to stop. It's your behavior and mindset - not how you eat, ****, or drive, or what clothes and cologne you wear. And even then, it's still overblown. All you have to do is not be a *****.

Only time to wear a sports teams jersey is while either playing or watching sport.

Any other time you look like a waster.

Only name on that shirt should be yours.
