ok think what happens when sun sets at 6 pm, well most people work in the mornings so they dont care how dark or bright it is (most people). Now in the fall when the days are shorter and sun sets at 6 pm people would prefer to get out of work and have more DAYLIGHT so now 6 pm is 7 pm !!

so if you finish work at 5 you have time to get home and get dinner done or whatever just in time to watch sunset !!

Now in the spring sun would set at 10 pm if it wasnt adjusted again, so since many people go to sleep about 10 or shortly after, its changed again.

THERE i tried to explain it !

To further confuse the issue, the US Congress has approved a change in the schedule, effective in 2007. The change will be in Nov and March instead of Oct/April, extending DST by 2 months.

Starting in 2007, daylight time will be extended by an extra four weeks. It will run from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November.

Thank god. I can't fathom why we still even have daylight savings time. All it means to me is sunset in the afternoon. I just don't understand the mentality behind it- "the days get shorter this time of year....let's make them even shorter!" It's a bunch of bulls*t.

I was wondering this very thing today myself.

to anyone who doesn't know, the reason for daylight saving stems back to when most people worked on farms.

some wise man noticed that it was light in the morning, and people where still in bed, so he proposed daylight saving hours so people would get more work done in the day.

Nowadays though, most people live in cities and don't work on farms, and I think would prefer the extra hours daylight in the evening.

no way! Europe is so far ahead of us, its crazy. You guys get to mess with your clocks, like time travel sh!t. Thats so sweet. Over here, we just stare at walls and drive our grossly-oversized vehicles for no reason.

(europe can suck it. :))

and if your reeeeeeally stupid, that was a joke.

That's in the summer. It makes the day shorter in the winter.

Up until Sunday it would get dark at around 7 PM here. Now it gets dark at about 6.

I read that the reason they had daylight savings time in the spring was to reduce crime. They do it so that less crimes are being committed around 8 or 9 during the summer when it would otherwise be dark.

I think they should f*ck with the calendar more. Skip the odd numbers in March, make one week a year all thursdays, go nuts.
