It seems that there is yet another "family values" politician embroiled in a sex scandal (Gov. Sanford of South Carolina), who although his staff said he had gone for a "hike on the Appalachian Trail", he really had gone to "spike some Argentinian tail". :crackup:

This got me wondering. It seems that all these men have stated that obviously have been having "marital problems". Is this just a code word for "my wife is no longer putting out, and I'm a horny man, so I went elsewhere for it"? Or perhaps just the Zeusian instinct in powerful men to hit a younger piece of azz then their older wives?

We no longer have a law forcing women to have sex with their husbands. And monogamy doesn't mean you have sex either, so explain to me again why people get married?

It just occurs to me when I think about it that there must be either a valid reason I haven't come up with, or a lot of men are collectively afraid to usurp the establishment they themselves set up for much different reasons long ago.

Typically when something isn't working as intended we go 'hey this is broken what do we do to fix it?' Instead I see men just walking over the cliff like lemmings.

I dont understand America... On one side, there are celebrities making sex tapes and puting on the internet to become more famous, on the other side, some other people are blamed and shamed on TV(they even read his private letters!!!) for having sex on their privacy... I dont get it...

The answer you are looking for is a simple one: there is no one unified "American culture". One American sub culture is making sex tapes, and another American subculture is trying for a religious revival. We are all Americans in that we share a common national history and some basics in political ideology (such as freedom of speech / religion), but otherwise we are not a "united" nation.

Because maybe he "settled". Further proof that not every hot woman is phased by a guy who's powerful and has a lot of money. I will never forget watching a guy I know walk into a club one night hand in hand with his mistress, followed by his wife's brother.

He lived with his wife in a HUGE house, Hummer, BMW 7 series in the garage, etc.

Turns out he was embezzling millions of dollars, and when the sh!t hit the fan and he got caught he lost the mistress (big surprise there!) followed shortly after by the wife. The wife call me up hysterical one night as they were going through the breakup, asking me why I didn't tell her he was cheating, she can't believe it, she feels so betrayed, blah, blah.

This and other things I have seen over the years (some of which I have experienced personally) have led me to the conclusion that the rich and powerful play by an entirely different set of rules.

Maybe he was truthful when he said he was looking for something "exotic." Maybe he just had a thing for Argentina. When you're that rich and powerful, I imagine the difference in cost between flying to Argentina and a country closer to home is relatively marginal.
