I heard this all the time growing up. To me, it makes sense (in a way) that most men would marry their mothers. Most "men" at least. Are they really men, though?

Let's delve into this...

The mother is a supportive and nurturing role in a child's life. One commonly would associate those traits of the mother's personality with the feeling of embrace, safety, and nurturing. However, it is easy to see that men who dislike their mothers or do not have a mother are often more open to girls and susceptible to the "Don Juan" lifestyle. This may be because he is not familiar with the feeling of "comfort".

Maybe a man who is not comfortable with leaving his "comfort zone" will seek out a woman that best represents what used to be the controlling, embracing, nurturing role in his life... and in turn will stay in his comfort zone whilst wrapped around this woman's finger, not only embracing the mediocre love life, but embracing a minimum-wage job, a crappy looking condo, and an old beat up bruiser car.

Maybe these "men" seek out women like their mothers because they are simply looking for another woman to mother them?

Maybe we can look at the women we want and compare them to our mother to see if we're on the right track? (actually, that's not the best idea.)

Maybe, just MAYBE, we can stay on the right track by embracing more of the uncomfortable stuff in our life than just women?

I think we should leave our comfort zones in every area possible.
Imagine lifting all of the heavy weights of life (say 180 lbs) and then going to lift the weight that is your love life (around 40 lbs).

Doesn't that seem much more simple than staying a mediocre person, a nerdy guy who plays WoW all the time...? A guy who just sits and gets fat or stays skinny?

Is the real reason you should be improving because your mother says so, or is it so that you can break free of your mother and start a family of your own?

So... tell me... do you guys think that REAL MEN marry their mothers?

My mother annoys me much of the time, if a chick does any of the annoying stuff my mother does she gets next'd.

Don't always be the one putting yourself out for her. Don't always be the one putting all the effort and work into the relationship. Let her, and expect her, to treat you as well as you treat her, and to improve the quality of your life.

Haha. I can say I am attracted to that type of woman in a way. At the same time, she was overbearing so Im also repulsed by that trait in women.
