Hey guys, this is something I have tried to stay away from when talking to girls in the past. If they ask, I'll tell them. But I don't continue to talk about me being an Accounting & Finance DBL major. To me this has dork written all over it. In fact, I'm not anywhere near the stereotypical accountant.

I've actually joked around about this before and gotten laughs. I think making a joke about it is the best approach.

How would you guys handle this though?

Personally I've always found it weird that people stress about their course/profession. Who cares what women think? As long as you're happy/making the kind of money that you want, then that's all that should matter..

Nobody cares. I tell girls all the time I was a fine and performing arts major. If I looked at it the way you're looking at your job, I could be scared they thought it meant I was an out-of-work actor. Women ultimately care about (a) how you treat them, (b) how you look, and (c) if you can take care of them. If your "dorky" major/job still allows you to take her out, it shouldn't matter; and, if it DOES matter to them what you do, you shouldn't be dating them in the first place.

Being shy or embarrassed about what you do is the pinnacle of AFC. It is more AFC than gushing to your oneitis about how much you love her.

If you're not proud of what you do, you're not proud of who you are. That will manifest itself into EVERY aspect of your life.

Instead of wondering what's the best way to avoid the discussion of your career, work on being proud of yourself and being comfortable in your own skin.

Men and women are very different in this way. Psychologically, men define themselves in a way after the type of work they are in. If you're not proud of what you're doing, you're probably not very proud of yourself either....and that's not good for your self-esteem. Women on the other hand generally couldn't care less. That's why you see some jobless or cash register divas who think they're hot sh1t.
