Do i really need a car for a date?

Something has been bothering me lately, i have no car and that means going on a date with a girl may not be that easy. Well i used to go to an urban city school with mostly black people, but the thing is no one really asked anyone on dates back there. They just got together, it was as if the whole dating stage was just excluded, one girl even said that teens don't go out on dates anymore. Thats why i didn't expect it to be mandatory. But it's going to be a while before i get my license. The whole dating thing is cool and seems mandatory in most cases. But do i really have to go on a "Date" with a girl(such as going out to eat or a movie). Why can't we just walk around the neighborhood or something, or chill around the house. Isn't the whole point getting to know eachother better. And i don't exactly live in the city of activities, Where i live there isn't even anywhere to go. The only place is the Movies. I asked a few people and they told me to put off talking to girls altogether until i get a car, but that just doesn't make sense to me, im already talking to a few girls. What do you guys think, will this hurt my chances, i just thought that as long as you could come up with something fun to do then why should a car matter all that much. And it would be a shame to put off talking to girls seeing how i am improving now.

I say you don't need a car because if you bought one, it would be for the girl and not as much for yourself.

There are endless things you can think of doing that don't involve driving somewhere.. hell, go rent some movies and make your own little theater at home.

dude i'm in the same boat on car . i can only get to the movies by car no where else to go

i actually just got my lisence and car on this previous thursday ( Oct 18 ) and the gf i have right now i started dating the weekend before this...now since i live like 10 mins away by car drive, i find it much easier...we go to the same school and all, i have a triple lunch ( spare, lunch, spare ) so i just sit in her photography class before lunch and we have a spare together after...but anyways....i actually find it much easier to get around now...especially when anything to do ( like the movies, walkin around the mall or just visiting friends at work ) is pretty far apart. plus now i can drive to her house to hang out or drive over to pick her up to come over ( cuz im nice like that =P ) but straight to the point....

you dont NEED a car to date...its just a nice feature to have and will make it ALOT easier...( even tho car situations can get akward sometimes if u dont have the radio on...but when they do, i tend to just hold her hand and drive with my one hand =P )

also...like someone told you that you shouldnt talk to girls before you have a car...it can be true in some cases...like if the girl you're goin for is SMOKIN hot...she will be more impressed with you if you can drive her places.

well i never said i was making excuses or putting others in control in my life, did you read my post at all....I was asking for opinions, either way im still going to talk to girls. Im not asking what i can do, i already know what i can do.
