It's depressing to think how money runs the world. Most people need to work in order to support themselves and family, whether they like their job or not. Once that issue is taken care of, then they can figure out if that's the job they want to do or want to do something else. There are opportunities, but they aren't always present for some people. I'm graduating university this year in business (not in accounting, although I was okay in it, it wasn't something I saw myself doing), and I have yet to find what I like to do. That is my current dilemma too.

THere will be people who will love their work even if they've been in it for decades, and there will be people who at first loved their work but eventually grew bored of it as the years pile on. That will depend on the person, and there's no guarantee that you'll be doing what you love the rest of your life and still love doing it all the while making your living. In a sense, that's just life. We're usually faced with many uncertainties. We can try to rationalize and plan out how our life will be like, but things will probably turn out differently.

You work to live, not live to work!

Think about it!

Only the very rare few are passionate about their work!

Do what you love. I get paid chump change to do social services but I wake up every day looking forward to work. I love my job.

"Research shows that more money makes people significantly happier only if their family income is below $30,000; after $50,000 money makes no difference."
John Stossel, in his book Lies and Myths
Very true.

Trouble is, most people love sports, music etc. There are just not enough jobs in these industries to satisfy demand. Therefore, 99% of people have to work in a job they do not love.

I dont dispise my job, Im a financial analyst, and I enjoy economics, but I dont love it!

If you want a qualified and justified answer, talk to a 1st or 2nd year auditor, or ibanking staff.

I travel
If your the typical 1 dimensional guy that lacks a wide range of interests I can understand NOT loving your job.

sports and music ?? sure there interests but there not practical, if you've got an interest in travelling and learning about cultures, you could learn diffrent languages and make a TON of money translating...if you like building model planes, become a designer or an engineer..the problem is, ALOT of you grew up on TV and never got exposed to Life, so you pick the jobs that are obvious..if you were to ask anyone whats a good stable job to have, 100% would say doctor/lawyer, but how many people would think to say architect in the same category ??? even though entry level architects may start at 50,000 a year and go up to over 100,000 a year, and EVERYONE needs an architect, but in order to hold a job like that you must be good at it, and in order to be good at it, you must LOVE it.

If you find a job that you are passionate about, than you will probably like the job a lot.

I'm in the process of starting a non-profit organization for diabetes, and the "work" of writing the paperwork and going through tons of tax files, I just absolutely love to do this because I am passionate about creating my dream. I will sit at my desk for two hours and it will only feel like a half hour.

I read through about twenty-five pages a day of information on the internet on how to start a non-profit or the effects of diabetes. Do I care? Yes, I miss way too many classes this way  .

You know what though? I LOVE my mission (notice that I have didn't say job. I have never had one because I am a non-conformist meaning that I only do what I like to do. Plus the word job has negative denotations and connotations as well, which means if you ask someone what job they have and they will mope and b!tch about it. I call my work "Missions" because that means that I am actually passionate about doing it.). People just do not know how or where to look. It's still the question of, if a person has never heard about, seen, smelled, touched, or tasted pasta. Would that person want pasta? But you tell them about it and show a picture of it, they would start to get that want for some good old fashion pasta.

People tend to go for what is easy and "safe" instead of going after their dreams with the possiblity of failure because they are scared of failure.

Do some research to find a job that interests you instead of what is safe. There are some many jobs out there that could have what you like to do that you just do not know about.

I am getting my Masters in Education. I coach HS basketball and it really turned me on to teaching. I like being around the students. When you ahve your own classroom you set the rules, the attitude, the expectations. It's as fun, or as monotonous as you make it out to be.

I get to deal with interesting people and be a 'help.'

As well, I get holidays off and two months in the summer.

One of the teachers I work with makes 68,000 dollars a year. If you count that he is working Sep-june, with two weeks off in December, all holidays in between off, and a spring break, that's a great lifestyle.

I like being around people and not staring at a computer all day. Work can by a lifestyle or it can just be a 'job.' For me, I have to spend my time having fun and enjoying what I am doing. Otherwise, what's the point.

I am single and don't want kids at this point. So the money will be more than I need.
