DJs fail much much much more than AFCs for two reasons.
The first reason we probably all know they try more often.
Ask 100 women for their ph# in a cold call situation and maybe 20-30% tops will give it to you (thats where I am anyway I don't ask for many numbers) less and less as your quantity goes up. Thats 70+ women who are telling you no.
The second reason is that the DJ can fail in smaller doses. Often you can pick up on a girl and she doesn't like you. She sends cues, you pick up on them. You do your presentation on why you really sexy. She still sends negative cues. You can walk away.
Since you never asked she can't be 100% sure you like her and thus can't tell all her friends that you hit on her and she rejected you.
The ability to ask a woman if she wants to have sex with you in such a way that if she says no she is still comfertable being your friend and hanging out is very benificial to your social life. It allows you to ask all the friends who you like for romantic favors without losing their friendship. This is the key skill for small population pools as the "nexting" strategy doesn't work anywhere near as well when there is no next.
So along with developing the guts to ask lots of women out in a blunt manner, also learn how to ask a woman out in such a manner that if she is interested she will say yes and if not she will say no but you didn't committ in such a manner that she could tell her friends.
For example, kino. Kino is a very easy way to gently increase the level of "sexual/romantic" involvement (hands->arms->shoulders->lower shoulders->full body contact hugs->massage->etc). That is a large part of why it is powerful. Can you imagine a woman running to her friends and saying I had dinner with DJnomore and that bastard touched my hand!!! After you have been touching her hand and she accepted this (misreading these signs is fatal btw) she likewise can't run to her friends and say he brushed against my arm etc.
You want her to know what you a saying with 60% of her mind. Thats enough for her to respond if she wants to but also enough that if she says no you can say no what?
This may sound AFC but it enables you to be far far far more agressive because there is no penalty. Many guys don't understand this tactic because it involves being able to read a womans responses.
But when you can do it well its called being smooth (perhaps because of smoothly transitioning between levels of involvement).
