The DJ Tip of the Day today recommends that every aspiring DJ start taking St John's Wort to boost serotonin levels. I'd caution any of you interested in that to ask around for people you know who've taken it before you try it. I took it to alleviate depression a few months ago for about three months. It did make me feel marginally better, but I became dependent on it to the point where if I missed a dose, I'd have the same recurrent nightmare that night. The major side effect, though was impotence. It completely killed my sex drive, to the point where I was playing the game out of boredom, and ended up flaccid and uninterested under a hot naked girl. Conclusions you should draw from this: St John's Wort has been shown to be as effective in treating mild to moderate depression as leading MAOIs and SRIs, but it's also been shown to leave you soft as a bunny's tail.

St John's Wort = no more boners

PS It takes about a day (for me, anyway) for the substance to leave your body, so maybe stop taking it the day before you're going to stuff some poor girl. Trust me, she'll thank you for it.

DO NOT TAKE ST.JOHN'S WORT WITHOUT CONSULTING YOUR DOCTOR FIRST!@

St. John's wort has very pronounced effects on liver enzymes and other natural processes of your body that COULD ADVERSELY INTERACT with other drugs you are currently taking.

it helps with the ceratonin levels and with anxiety .

it is cheap and over the counter.

on another note, a friend of mine took prozac for the same things but you need a prescription for it
however he never could finish when he and his wife had sex.
the problem wasnt the no boners , it was boners never going away !

SSRIs like Prozac usually are libido killers.

I tried SAMe a few years back, and all it did was make me more emotional in a violent way, I was at working knocking down chairs, getting folks face. It was horrible. my depression is very cyclical: I"ll have about a week of normal emotions/ 2 depressive weeks or I'll have depression in the morning and night, but feel fine during the middle of the day. Depression isnt so bad, if you learn how to enjoy it.

Stated again for reemphasis.

It doesn't matter how good-looking you are, how romantic you are, how funny you are... or anything else. If she doesn't have something INVESTED in you and the relationship, preferably quite a LOT invested, she'll dump you, without even the slightest hesitation, as soon as someone a little more "interesting" comes along.

I have also question about St.Johns Wort (I emailed the author of article, but I dont know if he saw it).
Can I take this herb constantly for one year ? Or should I take it 4-6 weeks and then have pause ?

I believe you can take it continuiosly. In some parts of Europe it is the herb of choice for Family practioners to prescribe over SSRIs, to the disgust of the Pharma. industry.

There are potential contra-indications, but generally considered safe and less sides than SSRis.

As pointed out by others, we are all different so it's a question of seeing how you react.

Personally I think If you have mild depression or anxiety a much better route is some form of counselling or CBT. Get your brain to think differently and make a real change to your life. The danger with ssri/st johns wort is that you become ok with your lot 'drugged up' rather than changing the perception or taking positive action.

I took it for awhile. I went from shy depressed loner guy to cool happy extroverted dude who pulled a 10 right off the street corner in the middle of the day. And I could still get it up (unlike other SSRI's).

HOWEVER
=======

Cumming felt like taking a piss. When it happened. Mostly, I couldn't finish.

So, my choice was:

A. shy, depressed, but normal sex drive
B. gregarious, happy, but weirdly asexual

In the end I chose A and worked on other methods to solve the shyness/depression

Most prescription antidepressants cause sexual dysfunction. Majority of people on Prozac and other antidepressants, both male and female, experience some form of a sexual problem which can be, loss of libido, inability to achieve or greatly reduced orgasm and, in men, loss of the ability to have an erection. St. John's Wort does not have these side effects.

Can someone tell me if it is save and effective to take st.johns wort for three months - or should I make pauses 1month on, 1month off ?

Thanks

M

Hmm.. is not it an advantage? It means you can go on and on....
I suppose this is what most sex manuals are aimed for: how to last longer.....
